@greeece666
i remember reading immidiately after the injury that real will not sign  a replacement. Probably they will get another guard for the bench but not a starter

@ somebody Papagiannis will make the eurobasket roster. So far he had uneven performances but so did Greece as a team. He was good in a 30p win  against England  and he disappeared in the 30p defeat against Serbia. Compared to last summer he looks definately better. He got stronger and moves better. He should be more aggressive imo.
Thanks man, he's one of my favourite Greek players, hope he does well. Btw have you revised your opinion of him?

giannis out

link from his instagram account (in Greek)

https://www.instagram.com/p/BX-wevNlT-7/

update: the post was taken down. there is a number of greek media reporting that giannis is out, but all use the same instagram post as a source, eg

http://www.sport24.gr/Basket/ElladaBasket/EthnikiBasket/breaking-news-ektos-eurobasket-o-giannhs-antetokounmpo.4810123.html

I'll update when there is something confirmed

Update II: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2601826-giannis-antetokounmpo-ruled-out-of-eurobasket-2017-with-knee-injury

Bleacher Report says the "tests conducted by the Bucks personnel" confirmed he will be unable to play.

Here is the original post by Giannis translated in English. (again he has taken down the post, but I post it, since it is the main, if not the only source)

http://www.eurohoops.net/en/eurobasket/497970/giannis-antetokounmpo-miss-eurobasket/

Trying to see the wider picture here, NBA teams have way more leverage than national basketball associations on deciding who plays, which means there is more emphasis put on caution than results.

I think it is  confirmed. I don't think the injury is so bad but the bucks won't let him (I can't blame them)

@ somebody at draft time I wanted the Cs to draft him. I have watched him  play since he was 16. I don't remember if I posted that here but he was one of the players I consider more likely to become a good player then Bender. But I still think he was drafted too high. Of course that is relative to the rest of the crop but if Papagiannis is a lottery pick then Charampopoulos should go top 3... Anyway I am a happy for the kid and I hope he makes it over there

Giannis Update : the Greek Basketball Federation claims that the Bucks forced him to withdraw. They don't have any credibility but i think they are right

This creates a vicious circle: players don't participate --> Eurobasket loses credibility --> players don't participate. not that i would care if i were the bucks.

anyway, if any non-Greek speaker is interested in it, this article has the statement of the greek bball federation, google translate will give you a fair idea.

I was referring to the credibility of the Greek Federation not of the Eurobasket.

There is a rumor that the problem was his insurance.

2 days to go. Feeling underwhelmed with all the absences but well... it should still be fun.

Ederson do I remember correctly, you are going to Helsinki? Enjoy the trip.

With all these injuries, and I never like those whoever suffers it, maybe, by some accident, even my Croatian squad runs into its first medal after EC in Greece '95 and our last NT basketball medal - bronze.

Giannis missing the tournament pretty much ruined it for me... Moreover I thought I was some kind of lucky charm cause I was in Belgrade for the 2005 eurobasket😁 But anyway I'll get to see Helsinki

watching Slovenia-Poland

Few viewers unfortunately... and  there is a Polish player called Slaughter  ;D

other than that, Slovenia looks good

http://livetv141.net/enx/eventinfo/560963_slovenia_poland/#webplayer_alieztv|54502|560963|761351|282|3|en

Update: game effectively over with a Slovenian win. Doncic's passes were the best thing in the part that I watched.
