I dunno if I would view Jeff as a good mentor.   He can't light his own fire how is going to show someone else?  I think he does have rock solid talent but something between the ears stops him from dominating in all but a few games a year.

There's a lot of outlandish nonsense on this blog -- particularly when it comes to imaginary numbers from certain other C's, numbers that would put them in categories with elite big men -- but the idea that Green is a quality starter isn't one of them.

Outlandish nonsense like 18, 13, and 3?

Green is one of two starters on this team who could be starting on a championship caliber roster.

That is both the best reason to keep him and the reason why he's one of the players most likely to be traded.

Which championship team do you see Green starting on? He would be the WORST starter in any championship caliber team. I like green, but to be a starter on such a team you are either an allstar level player - or bring some unique skill (lock down defender, 3 pt specialist, strong rebounder). Green is a high quality backup on a good NBA team.

Consider this - Andre Iquadala is coming of the Warriors bench.....

And yet Mario Chalmers has started for Miami during all their championship runs.

Green is a two way player who struggles to get his shots consistently when he's the number one option and am entire defense is locked in on him.

When he's a second or third option and teams aren't focusing 100% on him, then he can be a very special player... Just as he was in the playoffs two seasons back.

How is he a good fit for a championship team?  He can defend elite wings,  he can score in buckets when he's on (even if that's not every time),  he can get to the foul line for easy points and put pressure on a defense,  and he's proven he's an excellent clutch scorer.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
Yeah, I'm now on board with the don't trade Jeff crew, unless its an overwhelming offer that we could not refuse (highly unlikely).

At worst he can be the guy who will play very good defense against opponent SF's. And especially  in the East, with LeBron, Melo, (a healthy) Paul George, Jabari Parker, etc., he could be very useful on the defensive side, im thinking like a Trevor Ariza. Long and athletic who can bother opponent SF's enough to put them into a little bit more work.

At best he's going to put 18 points on average (not bad) and could drop 30 or 40 on one night (hopefully more nights) when he's engaged. He's on a reasonable contract too.

Let's keep solid players on good contracts like that. A
2019 CStrong Historical Draft 2000s OKC Thunder.
PG: Jrue Holiday / Isaiah Thomas / Larry Hughes
SG: Paul George / Aaron McKie / Bradley Beal
SF: Paul Pierce / Tayshaun Prince / Brian Scalabrine
PF: LaMarcus Aldridge / Shareef Abdur-Raheem / Ben Simmons
C: Jermaine O'neal / Ben Wallace

I am against trading anyone unless we get good picks or value back.

wow! everybody's drinking the Green Tea again. why?

I give it 2 weeks(actually I think it'll only take a week but i'm being generous) before we get "Green sucks, trade him" threads.

I like what Green offers ability-wise as a player and that's it. after that he can take his consistent inconsistency and leave town for all I care.

i'd rather have a guy the gets 15 every night than a guy who averages 8 for 2 weeks then has a 40 pt. game, then has 2, then 8...

i'm done with this dude. the guy has a block from behind last night and now everyone is saying "don't trade him"???

Green is not James Worthy.
Worthy brought it every night.
That is why he was an allstar, and Green is not.

Green is what he is, a solid role-playing starter who can probably be your third best player on a contender.   For what he is paid that is reasonable value.

Whether we should trade him or not is a different matter, and depends more on team needs. Currently we have so many needs, I don't see how trading him wouldn't create other needs. For what you would likely get in return for Green, you're likely just shuffling deck chairs.

Anyone apart from our young core of players has a huge "on sale" sticker on them. And even the young ones could be traded if the right offer comes.
As for Green, having so many draft picks coming (3 first rounders in the next draft) is just one more reason to make some room. You know we have only 15 roster places.
Sure, I am not saying we should give him for free, but if the right offer comes (including say a nice combination of young talent and a draft pick) why not? It's not like Green is indispensable to the team.

green had heart surgery and then last year was a merry-go-round, actually a stephan king nightmare -no center ,no rondo, bogans, sully huffin and puffin and KO just starting out and playing like bambi, bradley injured-i'm surprised jeff green hasn't said trade me--
