I  think the Knicks are tanking so no need for them to trade as that would cost them assets and make them better.  They won't need his bird rights to sign him in the off seasons, they may not even need to offer the non-bird max deal.  Rondo is going to go where he wants to go and the NYK have a lot to offer.

I also think the Sacto ship has sailed.  I was on the CelticsBlog record as being in support of the McLemore-based Rondo trade variations that were presented along the way.  There will be other opportunities to trade Rondo but I would not do this NYK trade.  Basically Shumpert and a future pick that probably would not be all that good.  I think DA can finagle something better than that.

Terrible trade.  I'd rather get nothing than Shumpert.

No way in hell the Knicks do this trade now. I'm glad people are finally seeing Rondo's value for what it truly is.

As folks will recall, I posted this trade a month or two ago, but with the Bucks looped into it, as follows:

Knicks get: Rondo, Wallace, Vitor, Pressey
Knicks trade: Stoudamire, Hardaway, Jr., Larkin, Wear

Celtics get: Stoudamire, Henson, Larkin, Wear
Celtics trade: Rondo, Wallace, Vitor, Pressey

Bucks get: Hardaway, Jr.
Bucks trade: Henson

Basically, this trade but with Wear in it (as of Dec 15) instead of Early.

Trading Rondo+Wallace for Amare and Shupert make sense

If Rondo decides to leave, then his value won't be too high anyway, and we might have to settle with as little as Schumpeter.
But it is far too early to say that Rondo is leaving.

If Rondo goes back to 2009-2010 production levels (15+ pts / 10+ ast / 5+ rebs and 2+ stl on 50% fg) he should be re-signed for as much as it takes.

If not, I am afraid the most we will get in today's league with PG plethora is this ****ty knicks package (i.e. some cap relief, a pick and a so-so young player).

Even if he does and did resign, who does he play with in 15 16?  Nobody is coming here to save the day, no one!

Another poor game by Rondo. Poor defensive effort again (vs Calderon, really?) and  only scored 2 points.

I hope the Knicks are still interested.

To Knicks: Rondo, Bass, Wallace, 2 2nd round picks
To Celtics: Stoudemire, Hardaway Jr., Early, 2018 1st, 2020 1st, Prigioni (waived)

Celtics lineup after trade

Zeller/Stoudemire
Sullinger/KO/Powell
Green/Young/Early
Hardaway Jr./AB/Thornton
Smart/Turner/Pressey

Bad game for everyone except Green and that's a bad trade.

It's to the point i don't want to hear Rondo say "It's on me".  It's just not working out .

Either this team needs to add 2008 like pieces or let Smart get the mins/develop or get the pg best suited to help this lineup out.  Which solution do you think will be easier to obtain??

Trade Rondo , get a nice young prospect (Hardaway Jr.)  , get some 1st picks and have them eat Wallace's contract.

Right now, can we trade him, Smart is hurt again.  His plays style leads to injury.
