Danny Ainge cancels WEEI Interview ?

Every year I feel like Danny is supposed to come on WEEI right after the deadline and pretty much every deadline he delays several times before canceling.

Danny cancelled.  I wouldn't read anything into that.  The deadline is over.  He's probably just looking to relax after an exhausting week of fruitless due dilligence phone calls.

Probably paperwork to be signed or free agents to call... maybe medical evaluations to schedule.   That or he's just bushed.  I know after a long day of fishing, I'm pretty darn tired... whether I catch one or not.  Danny's been fishing all week... he probably needs a nap.  The Crawford is in the cooler.

Yeah, people get their hopes up that he's "in the middle of a deal" and can't leave the phone", but that's never the case. I think he just doesn't want to field the questions like who he was and wasn't shopping around, what trades got offered but didn't go down and why. I doubt the NBA would allow him to comment on such things anyway.

Ainge can't comment until the paperwork is filed with the league office. Wouldn't read too much into not going on WEEI. Happens every year.

Entirely possible that he is still in the queue with the league office to finalize the deal, given the volume of minor trades that went on today.

Just an FYI to anyone who is extremely gullible.  If you're still listening to WEEI, keep in mind that they have ever incentive to convince you that something "big" might be on the horizon.  They are trying to keep you listening.  Nothing big is happening... we replaced Barbosa with Crawford.  Is what it is.

  Everyone who makes trades has to call the league office and wait their turn for a conference call with whoever in the league goes over the details and approves the trades. I heard Danny on the radio on a previous trade deadline, I think it was about 2 hours after he was supposed to be on the show.

Yeah.  Plus, teams aren't supposed to discuss trades until the trade is approved by the league office.
