Rumor: Andrew Bynum might be heading to New York which team it is has not been confirmed

Source: Bynum was shipped out of town for a 1st and two 4th round picks

Something big must be in the works.  There's only one other New York team besides me, and I'm the only one that can that offer two 4ths at the moment.

If Ronaldo was simply trying to pit us against each other for Bynum, you can have him.

No way would I give up a 1st for Bynum.  Might be ok for you, if you're looking towards the future (and have some sort of time machine to predict whether his knees will last).

Again, hypothetically, since no trade has yet been approved, here is how Id see it.

Andrew Bynum is a lot of things. Potentially injury prone, potentially problematic in the lockerroom, terrible neighbor.

But he's shown himself to be a 20-10 all-star, elite defender among centers, and he's supposed to return after the break.

I can't fathom a situation that might arise where I would (hypothetically) have the potential to acquire a center with a track record of 20-10 who has not yet reached his ceiling in the draft. Injury prone or no, the remaining high-ceiling centers are nowhere near as dominant offensively as Andrew Bynum.

While ideally Id prefer a better stretch 4 next to Bynum, Thompson won't stop rebounding , converting in transition, or working the P&R. On the other side, i (hypothetically) acquire a potential 20 pt scorer, 10+ rebounder, and elite defender at the 5 to build around Irving long-term.

Well put, when Bynum is playing he is a 20-10 guy and definety an all star.

Trading Andrew Bynum for a first

He'd be an intriguing frontcourt complement to LMA.

I disagree, A.Bynum would be bad for Aldridge just like A.Bynum was bad for Pau Gasol.

Sticking Aldridge alongside a low-post-only big man forces Aldridge to spend a larger proportion of his time and receive a larger portion of touches and shot attempts further away from the basket. More time in that 15-22 foot range than in that 6-12 foot range.

Which creates lower quality scoring opportunities which leads to both lower scoring numbers and lower scoring efficiency. It makes Aldridge less of a threat offensively. Easier to defend against. Less of a matchup problem.

You want to get Aldridge alongside a big man who has an inside-outside game (like Marc Gasol) or someone who plays mainly away from the hoop. Avoid guys who only have value offensively 5 foot from the basket (at least in important / big minute roles).

LMA is one of the best stretch fours in the league. Just saying,

Im looking for versatile high-character guys at the 2 and 3 who can compensate for Irving's sub-par passing...

It's a shame Irving's GM doesn't recognize his full potential.

Irving's passing will be fine as soon as he's surrounded by quality teammates who can finish.

I haven't heard anything about a Randolph trade.

We paired Bynum and Irving last year, and I loved that combo at the time.  In theory, I still do.  In reality, Bynum has had a major injury in 5 out of the past 6 seasons and has major attitude problems.  He's also going to be getting a max contract.

That's not the type of player I'd build around.
