He is what he is, but his hands are poor and he is weak.   PP was pushing him around from what I saw, he is raw.  Everytime they made contact Melo went backwards.  He has improved since we got him but he needs a lot more work on his hands and strength.   Both things that can be fixed with time.

It's a skill to learn how to work against pressure and how to protect the ball, and size doesn't make you not have to know how to do those two things.

He has to learn.

Big men just don't learn low post offense like they once did.

It's not like they were going hard.  I'm sure if Melo wasn't going against the face of the franchise and it was a shootaround he could have stuffed Pierce.  He has like 50 pounds and 4 inches on him.

What I think it does a good job of showing is the value of having veterans around like Pierce and KG so they can help the younger guys along and also keep the egos in check to make sure they realize they haven't made it.  They can always get better.

Well, there is a reason I have suggested that Paul Pierce might make a better smallball 4 than Jeff Green.

So was Jason Collins, our secret weapon

Cannot believe some people got "Melo is weak" out of this video. Like some have already pointed out, it's practice against a teammate who is a lot smaller. You really want Pierce injured?

Nice to see that the vets are taking Melo under their wing. Melo has a good work ethic from what I've seen.

I have always heard PP was really strong for his size.

Well he's 6'7 ... I guess by nba standards that's normal but in reality yes he's very big and strong and uses his body well

Yeah, PP is tall and has a wide body. He uses it to its full capacity. PP is a Legend

Most talented versatile scorer ever IMO

He only benched 185 nine times in the combo so he is weak by NBA standards.   I think him getting pushed around was about his lack of leg strength. PP got low and use a low center of gravity.  One has to realize that Melo is a neophyte at basketball.

That being said he looks stronger than he did when he first got drafted.  It may take a year or two to get NBA strong.

I've have seen 6'7 guys who are weak and not strong like say Reggie Miller.   Height does give leverage but not always strength.    I am over 6'7" so PP is not a big man to me.  I am probably 1-2" taller than that depending on shoes but I am 6'7" in bare feet.   It took some lifting and hard work to get stronger but it's not automatic ability of size.

Melo will get there, just takes some time, he is young.   A twenty year old is not a full grown man at peak strength.   PP could guard LeBron straight up and that is no small feat.  That alone ought to show his strength.   I have seen him back down Carmelo too, who is bigger.  Give him a few years and look out he will be a wall down low.

I like that Fab doesnt back down after he gets bumped out of position. I thinkn its just basketball instincts. Still need to add more strength in the leg I think, but I like how he doesnt shy away from contacylt.

Apparently Sully did 9 bench presses too.

Plus Jajuan Johnson bench pressed 325 pounds.
