How many of those games did you actually play in that Association, though? Also, how many games per season and minutes per quarter?

28 games, 7 min quarters, superstar

Played every one until I'd won the division. First 2 seasons I'd played nearly every game of the reg season to do that..after that it got easier

I'll lose games though when i start out with a young team like that..but thats just my thing in video games..I love takin the young guys at low value and making them high value through work

See, I don't play every game but I like 82 games just because I like the grind of an 82 game season and being able to see the final record. Also, with 28 game seasons, they don't really get affected by fatigue. Looking forward to this game.

Yeah, I'm a little different than you guys. I always do 82 game seasons, and I play every single game at 9 or 10 minutes per quarter (whichever produces more realistic outcomes/numbers, which I always figure out before I begin my Association). I don't like simming games. I like doing everything, and it should be loads more fun this year with the new player-by-player management you need to pay attention to.

10 more days guys, just 10 more days. Hang in there...

I've been playing NBA 2K5 (!!!!!) on XBox forever, I essentially never lose, and the game is tremendously irritating (I don't even want to get into it). I updated all the rosters and ratings, but it's over now. This game sounds awesome. I'm concerned about the ref collision thing though. It sounds like it has the potential to be something really annoying. Love the jump ball thing - I've given up trying to win jump balls on 2k5, love the free agent thing, ambiguous about player personality - I usually turn off team chemistry because it's annoying. Wow, can't wait.

On a side note, the soundtrack looks pretty decent, but the Dilla songs will be nice, especially the track from Donuts with Kweli.

I got the team ratings (us Celtics fans should be very happy with our rating):

    Quote
    1. Suns: 93
    2. Spurs: 92
    3. Celtics: 87
    4. Bulls: 85
    5. Jazz: 84
    6. Pistons: 83
    7. Rockets: 82
    8. Nuggets: 81
    9. Lakers: 77
    10. Heat: 76
    11. Mavericks: 76
    12. Nets: 75
    13. Raptors: 75
    14. Clippers: 75
    15. Grizzlies: 74
    16. Warriors: 74
    17. Bobcats: 74
    18. Cavs: 73
    19. Hornets: 72
    20. Wizards: 72
    21. Pacers: 72
    22. Magic: 71
    23. Hawks: 70
    24. T-Wolves: 70
    25. Kings: 69
    26. 76ers: 66
    27. Blazers: 65
    28. Bucks: 64
    29. Sonics: 62
    30. Knicks: 62

I think they are a little shaky, personally. I'm very happy about us being the best team in the East, of course, but there are issues. Here are my thoughts:

    • San Antonio should be the highest rated team in the game. They are the champions and their defense really sets them apart from Phoenix, despite the amazing offensive talent down there.
    • Dallas all the way down at 76? The only reason they are so underrated in the game is because this game is produced by Warriors fans, which is also why Golden State's individual player ratings are too high. It's one thing to be biased, but come on, this is absurd. They are undoubtedly one of the top few teams in the league.
    • Detroit should be above Chicago.
    • So the Mavs are all the way down at 76, but the Lakers are up at 77? Riiiiiight....
    • I was unaware that Golden State, Charlotte, and Memphis were better teams than Cleveland. ::) A healthy Clipper team is debatable, though, and I think Cleveland would particularly have a tough problem with that matchup.
    • Washington and Orlando are a little underrated.
    • Indiana is overrated, I think they are one of the worst teams in the league, possibly the worst in the East.
    • I can't stand the Knicks or anything about their franchise, excluding David Lee and Mardy Collins, but 62 seems awful low. They should be a top 10-11 seed in the East this year, with an outside shot at making the playoffs (extremely doubtful, but possible). They aren't the worst team in the league, especially in a video game when you're considering overall ratings and talent.

But hey, I can at least confidently say that these are much better than Live's team ratings.[/list]

Team ratings don't matter much in 2k anyways..last season the warriors and magic were both great online options but their ratings were very low. The video game, like the real life game, is about exploiting matchups.

I just found some GREAT new videos.

NBA 2k8: Ultimate Fan Trailer #3

That's nice, but I also found actual game footage (full game, 4-minute quarters). First, here's a little excerpt from the guy who played this game (DJRhude):

    Quote
I'm not going to even front, I took the Phoenix Suns lightly. Why you ask, would I take the highest rated team in the game with a grain of salt? Well that's due to the poor performance of past basketball video games when it came to depicting the NBA teams. They never really captured how the team played in real life. So yeah, I knew the Suns had Nash, Amare, Marion and company, but when I went into their arena with the Denver Nuggets I wasn't really expecting to see the real Nash. I was wrong. Dead wrong. In fact I was so wrong that the Phoenix Suns beat the brakes of my Melo led squad. On All Star (I'm a good 2K player, but even I knew I wasn't ready for Superstar yet). This Phoenix Suns squad played exactly like the real Suns. With Nash running the show, he was either picking me apart with precison passing, or draining the open shot. On the rare occassions I was able to stop Nash, Amare beasted down low. It was almost uncanny how life like Nash and the entire Suns team played. My only highlights, was a sick dunk by JR Smith in traffic (third quarter I think) and some sick moves by A.I. Other than that, it was total Suns domination. One thing I am loving about this game is you cannot play sloppy. All my reckless drives into the paint were sent back in my grill and all my careless passes were stolen. Enough talk though, watch the full 4 minute quarters game. Enjoy.

Without any further ado, let's get to the game videos, shall we?

    Denver @ Phoenix - 1st Quarter
Denver @ Phoenix - 2nd Quarter (halftime included)
    Denver @ Phoenix - 3rd Quarter
Denver @ Phoenix - 4th Quarter (Jordan Player of the Game included)

Rhude wasn't lying about Phoenix. They really do play like their real counterparts, and they push the tempo. Nash... wow. Rhude was right, Nash's game/style is 100% spot on.

The halftime show is short, but it looks 10x better. I also don't mind that it's short, without Kenny Smith's Stamp of Approval, because the postgame show is just incredible. As most of you probably know, you can toggle through each player's highlights at the end of the game, and pick what you want to see. It's not just 3 highlights of each player, either... it's everything. Shots they made, rebounds, pretty passes, you name it. There is also a Top 3 Plays of the Game.

Just 7 days until 2k8 is in stores, and with all this new info, I don't know if I can last. ;D It's probably best if I just stay away from the 2kSports forums, that way I don't think about it as much, but I've come to the conclusion that it's impossible for me to do so.
