What's the first concert you attended?
Nine Inch Nails on the Self Destruct tour at the Boston Garden (opened by the then relatively unknown Marilyn Manson), according to Wikipedia it was on December 3, 1994. It was def cold out since I got called a poser for wearing Boston Celtics winter jacket to a NIN concert.

What's the best/favorite concert you attended?
It's really hard to pick one... Many Pearl Jam concerts. A smaller one that I loved was the Brian Jonestown Massacre opened by a great band called the Asteroid #4 in Central Mass.

What's the performer/band you've seen in concert the most?
Pearl Jam by far... 12 times so far.

What's the last concert you went to?
Foo Fighters at Fenway Park

What's the worst concert you went to?
Lenny Kravitz at Great Woods, he canceled his performance after the opening band played because he decided he was too sick to go on at the last minute.

What concert was better than you expected?
Blondie last year... I went to the show to see Garbage open, but Blondie still brings it!

What performer/band did you see that will never perform again (break up or death)?
Alice in Chains... They're still around but without Layne Staley. But I can't think of any that are broken up.

Old school dude here, so I'd like to blow some of you away with 20th century dates:

First concert: Jethro Tull at New Haven Coliseum in 1974.

Also saw Yes in 1975 in Hartford and Aerosmith with Rick Derringer as warm-up in Boston in 1976.

What's the performer/band you've seen in concert the most?
Went to about 8 Grateful Dead shows between 1976-1980 (in college). Also counts for "band that will never perform again".  Also seen Talking Heads/David Byrne 3 times, Peter Gabriel twice and Tower of Power twice.
TP just for the Tull reference.

What's the first concert you attended?

Steve Lawrence and Edie Gormet with my parents at the Monticello in Framingham around 1966

What's the best/favorite concert you attended?

Neil Diamond, Louisville, KY May 1977. I had just graduated from Army basic training at Ft Knox, and we were waiting to finish up admin stuff before we were sent to our advance training sites. Drill Sergeant came in and said that anyone with $2 for bus fare could go to see Diamond. We had been isolated on post in the barracks with no TV, army chow and no fun whatsoever for 2 ½ months. All decked out in our dress greens, loaded onto the army green buses, we were off to Louisville. People wearing civvies. Women. Beer. Normalcy.

We filed in to our balcony seats at one end of the arena behind the stage. We didn't care. We were out in the world, feeling normal. So what if the view sucked.

Suddenly, half way through the show, Neil Diamond stops the show, turns around and squints up into the balcony, saying “Where are my troops?” As the lights hit us, we went nuts. He welcomed us, thanked us for coming, and then played the next 3 numbers to us with his back turned to the paying customers.
I later learned that he was a big supporter of the military (which was not exactly a popular position in the 70's) and he gave free tickets to troops whenever he played near a base.

I never forgot it.

What's the performer/band you've seen in concert the most?

Roomful of Blues

What's the last concert you went to?

Ronnie Earl at the Tampa Bay Blues Fest April this year

What concert was better than you expected?

David Bromberg at the Jazz Workshop on Boylston in 1976. He did a full set with his band. We were lingering at our table as the place was closing up. Bromberg came out with a guitar, sat down on a stool and did an unannounced 45 minute solo set for the handful of people remaining. He just felt like playing, and it was unbelievable.

What performer/band did you see that will never perform again (break up or death)?

BB King and Cab Calloway
nice list of classics.  saw Roomful at the original Lupos in Providence in the mid 80's.  very tight band.  TP

would love to see the Foo live.

I'm not huge into jam-bandy stuff but I saw Trey Anastasio on 7/28/2001 and it was Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.in'.

Man, totally forgot about Oasis.  Saw them 2 or 3 times before they broke up.  Fun band live.

First concert....Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass with Sergio Mendes and Brasil 66 at the DC outdoor Carter Barron Amphitheater, 1966.

Best concert....Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes, early 70s at the Celler Door, 200+ max seating.  The horns were amazing.

Worst and one of the best at the same time....an incredible performer named Emitt Rhodes who wrote, sang, and played all the instruments on his albums in the early 70s.  Sounded like Paul McCartney after breaking away from the Beatles.  He had stage fright and had to be ushered on stage by his manager. He then sat at a piano and kept his back  to the audience the whole show.  George Carlin was the opening act and did his thing for more than an hour while we waited for Rhodes to get enough courage to come on stage.

Better than expected...Ricky Nelson!  A young group named America was his opening act...they were great.

Last memorable concert...The Stones.  Doubt I'll ever see them again, lost interest in their sound.

Ironically Southside Johnny was among my worst. A band I was excited to see live, but was mightily disappointed. Lackluster opening for Huey Lewis (who was great) at the Hampton Beach Casino. No energy and out of tune. Just mailed it in. The horns were pale in comparison to Tower of Power, who I had seen the same season at the Casino.

Same band, different day I guess.

Like the Cs, can't win them all.  Must have been a reason why Southside never made it to the big time like Bruce, his close friend.

Hmm, let's see, other interesting moments...

Oh, Barry Manilow. My wife is quite the fanilow and we've seen him four times. His standard line during a concert: "Yeah, I know, you men got dragged along. But trust me, you're gonna be thanking me in the morning. You'll be writing me thank you notes..." We went backstage and met him once. My wife flirted with him, but I got the impression that he's gay. Not sure what it was.

Wat? :o

No accounting for taste. After all, she married me.

One concert I hate to admit I went to was the GoGos. My future wife dragged me to it. Wierdly, I had a good time.

I can absolutely see that. They'd be a lot of fun for the same reason that the Beach Boys would. They're simply catchy.
