the regular season will be fun for sure. I project this team to win somewhere between 58 and 62 games. But all I care about is winning 16 games in the playoffs. Boston certainly has he best chance of beating the warriors out of any team, I think, since Houston’s wing D took a huge hit this offseason after losing both Aliza and Mbah ah Moute.

Let them play.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

I think they will win 60+ fairly easily but they won't be the best team ever.

I don't think there's any reason they couldn't approach the level of the 67 win Warriors of 2015

I can't decide if I was more excited heading into the '07-'08 season, or now heading into the '18-'19 season!

I want to say now, but that might just be more recency bias.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

I'm a bit biased towards the 86 Celtics.

The ONLY bad thing about that season is that I felt a sense of sadness at us beating HOU rather than the Lakers that year - and YES we WOULD HAVE beaten them.

Loved seeing Big Bill dip into the fountain of youth and help us that season.

I know I was incredibly excited about the '08 season but I also remember thinking they would need a year to gel and I didn't anticipate the championship or the 66 wins. This year, I feel really good that this is a championship team and I'm predicting around 62 wins. Plus that ECF loss is fresh.

I might be more excited for this season.

To answer the OP, beating the Warriors alone would not make this team an all time great. But if everything breaks right, this team has the kind of talent to start a conversation.

Best team ever?

Stephen Curry
Klay Thompson
Kevin Durant
Draymond Green
DeMarcus Cousins

If fully healthy, that team could probably go 76-6.

Yeah, but Cousins isn’t remotely healthy, which is why Golden State could afford him to begin with.

I think the Celtics team is top notch and is going to one of the most fun squads to watch in long time, definitely since 2008.

But they aren't winning 70 games. I top them out at 60 this year.

And will almost definitely never be the same again.

I'm hoping he just ruins their chemistry and demands touches

And that team went 40-1 at home. Can't see this team doing that or winning 66 games like the 08 Celtics. They will be a very good team. Possibly championship good.

But they aren't winning 73+ wins...a record.
They aren't going 40-1 at home.... a record.
They aren't going 16-1 in the playoffs....a record.
They aren't going to have a season point differential of +12.3 or more....a record.

So I don't see an all time best team.

But if they never get to be an all-time greatedt team but win 2 or 3 titles, I will take it.

I like your consolation prize!

If Tatum turns into a blend between Grant Hill and KD, and Jaylen Brown becomes bigger, better defending Jason Richardson, then maybe we have a chance at the GOAT team ;)
Some pretty big if's however

Yeah this is probably the most excited I’ve gone into a season since 2009-10 (expecting a healthy KG).

But that 2007-08 season had me waking up early for a preseason game in Italy.

If healthy, I believe this starting five is more talented than the starting five that won the championship in 07-08.

Not crazy at all. Rondo wasn't Rondo yet and Perk topped out as a valuable defender of big men and great locker room guy. This year the Celtics are likely going to start 5 guys who will be all stars or borderline all stars.
