Nothing. It'd be great if he could show a few flashes in some non-garbage time here but honestly he just needs to show competence and development in the G-League and not overdose or whatever.

Anyone expecting him to genuinely contribute or even be given a real opportunity to do it (barring major injury problems knock on wood) is setting the bar way too high.

WTH man. That is seriously waaaaay out of line.

Mods?

I’m a Robert Williams guy , but don’t think fairweather quote is accurate...,he said overdose on the Snoooze button, meaning that He hopes he doesn’t use the snooze button too often.

EDit:

fairweather didn’t say what you quoted “ overdose or whatever “. You left out a few important qualifying words.

He thankfully edited his post. I simply directly quoted his initial post.

Cool....TP.

I voted g-league all year, but frankly I feel like I'm being optimistic.  Very surprised there have been no votes so far for Bust.  I don't want it, but it could happen, actually quite easily.

How would you differentiate between G League and Bust?  He gets cut?

I'm of the mind a 27th pick can't be a bust, but I just can't believe he'd be cut. They could always find a trade for a guy with his physical attributes. I mean The Warriors can find minutes for Jordan Bell lol

Oh, I don’t think he gets cut either.  I’m just wondering what Surferdad’s threshold was for bust in Year 1 in a poll that has G League as a separate option, and why he was surprised no one chose it.  About the only thing I have is that he gets cut or is suspended for a significant period, neither of which seem like scenarios one expects to play out.

I'll go bust. I hope he's a player and proves it but right now I'm not feeling good about this kid at all!

What, to you, is a bust in year 1 in which staying in the G League is also an option?

I said minor contributor but I think he will be late for practice/games more than he plays games.

If Williams does little this year except tear up the G League, I will be ecstatic. If Jordan Mickey could do what he could do in the G League, Williams should be amazing down there. Then next year I see Yabu being gone and Williams getting some run. Then in year 3 and 4, I see him becoming a Clint Capella type player with better defense.

Year one will be close to meaningless unless Williams goes to the G League and sucks. Then, we have a problem. But, if a #27 pick doesn't work out, no big deal, they usually don't.

Large strides can be made in time for training camp.Film, weight room, diet and drills.Work on his foul shooting and shooting technique.Without this time period and some reports from team or his private coach, how can anyone make an informed decision?
Some players play up to competition and play better blended in -Maine is full of bad habits.
I think his learning includes going on some away games and adjusting to on the road pro lifestyle.Garbage time can also be all over the place.
We got 6 minutes only at summer league and he played out of position in college or maybe that was an excuse..
I have a theory that big men often don't apply themselves in strength training and having trainers and a private coach and mentors like Horford.
So results in these areas could be immediate and drastic .
If i had to vote it would be a blend.

I expect to see that he's goin to show his potential as the second greatest big man defender that the Celtics have ever had.
