Because it is not a place.

European team often don't use the name of the city in their official name and in many cases they use the name of the sponsor. In this case Anadolu Efes is a beverage company that owns the club. The team is located actually in Istanbul

They play in Istanbul, Turkey. The largest city in Europe (it spans Europe and Asia) and one of the largest cities around the world.

Anatolia (hence Anadolu) is a region in Turkey.

Like ederson said, Efes is a Turkish company.

Never would've thought I'd be sad to see Shane Larkin go. Last year at about this time I was wondering if Danny had lost his mind signing Larkin, but then I was proven wrong (again). =)

  • Peace it's a board. We all will never agree.
I hope for a very successful year and back to the NBA and us if we lose Rozier. i too thought Danny was crazy last year.

I haven't  found any details on the deal but Turks pay a lot of money.

David Pick claims that he'll earn 1.8 million dollars in the upcoming season with Anadolu Efes:

Quote
@IAmDPickCeltics free agent guard Shane Larkin confirms to me that he is leaving the NBA to sign a $1.8M, one-year offer sheet with Anadolu Efes.

That contract isn't much bigger than the veteran minimum deal which NBA teams can offer.

Yep, it's a big world out there  ;D

As for Shane, good luck to him, he worked hard and gave his all while with us and that's all you can expect of a person.
