The Portland Trail Blazers have waived center Georgios Papagiannis, it was announced today by president of basketball operations Neil Olshey.

Not surprised..... There was in another thread a discussion about bad lottery picks ...
This has to be one of them. He was late first besta case scenario and the kings picked him at 13! What were they thinking?

It is almost certain he will sign with his old team in Greece

BTW 7.6 wingspan and just after two years he is out of the league.....  just saying ...

Wasn’t Danny rumored to want him before we took Yabu?

Couldn't believe the Kings took him so high. I didn't think he could even play in the league.

Yeah, thank goodness we dodged that bullet and got Yabu...I don’t even think I am being sarcastic either.

I can't wrap my head around what the Kings have been doing lately.  Over the past few years they drafted several big men -- WCS, Skal, Papagiannis, Giles -- mostly without the minutes to develop them with Cousins there.  Further, they went and signed Zach Randolph and Kosta Koufos to completely useless contracts that took more minutes away from their young group of draft picks.  All around terrible roster management by the Kings for the past few years.

EDIT - I didn't even realize that Papagiannis was a Blazer and no longer a King.  But my point about the Kings still stands... just isn't quite as relevant to the topic.

The Kings are a mess. I feel like that is relevant in every thread.

I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Haha, Greece did you mean to confuse Panathinaikos with Papagiannis?
