Something to note:
Bird has a higher PER than Smart, Larkin, Nader,  Allen and Semi.

@KeithSmithNBA
Asked around Summer League about Boston Celtics RFAs Marcus Smart and Jabari Bird and the feeling from other teams is that they don’t have enough cap space to make an offer for Smart that Boston won’t easily match. Teams are watching Bird and Boston’s luxury tax line w/ interest.

I'm not really worried about it. If the Celts really believe in him they can keep him. If they let him go, it's a sign they don't really value him that highly.

Do the Kings sweep in with a max offer?

They would, but they’re limited by the Arenas provision.  I understand that’s why they haven’t made an offer yet.   ;)

I am not one to get too over-excited over fringe, 2nd-round prospects and summer-league heroics.

But I'll be p---ed if we do end up losing control of Jabari.   Because it isn't just Summer League or G-League.  He also looked like a legit NBA player in his NBA minutes.

I'm mostly confident that Danny won't let that happen, but until the ink is dry its still a possibility.
NBA Officiating - Corrupt?  Incompetent?  Which is worse?  Does it matter?  It sucks.

The only way it happens imo is if it would push us into the tax after the team is set to avoid it via Marcus taking the QO.

Don't look now, but as of now Ante Zizic's per36 numbers are 28 pts, 17 reb, 5 ast on 63% shooting.

In NBA garbage time minutes. I'm not going to get too worked up over him at all. If they want to keep him they can. If they choose to let him go elsewhere it's because they're not all that worried about it, and I'm inclined to trust their judgement on that.

“We’re hearing from people,” Aaron Goodwin said. “People are looking back at the end of the season, when he got those opportunities and played well. He really showed everyone what he’s capable of. He’s a confident kid who wants the best opportunity that’s available to him.”

Not that this outside interest deflects from where Bird wants to be.

“At this point the Celtics want to wait and see, and then we’ll talk,” said Goodwin. “He’s doing a good job of showing the league how he can play, but he’s a Celtic and he wants to remain a Celtic. That’s his intention.”
