I'm at the point where I'm just wondering if they should just offer both a 2 year 8 million per deal (2nd year team option) and pull the offer from the guy that doesn't accept it. Or give a reduced offer like say only the QO.

I'm possibly getting impatient with this.

Smart all the way. Not sure he got much more than a serious sniff or two on the RFA market. He's going to come back but may bail next summer (for a better deal, out if spite or roster crunch).

IT to Orlando makes lots of sense. He wouldn't rebuild his value here.

Why would we give IT 8 million when he was garbage last year?

Because he was all-NBA the year before that. Avery B got 7 back in the day from us and I think he just signed for 2 years for 12 and he was garbage last year too.

IT for 8 could become a pretty good deal.

Smart easily, he can play alongside Kyrie.

Nostalgia.

Not something Danny really values much, so don't expect to happen.

None.... I do not like players who try to negotiate through media...and to be honest their value in the market is set and Danny has valued them fairly.... with one top year you do not receive top money...even if you are a good defender you do not get top money if you cannot shoot...

Why negotiate against yourself?  And IT is damaged goods

Thank goodness for Danny. Loved IT when he was here, but no other team in the NBA is offering him that much money right now. If the Celtics entertained bringing IT back - which I don't think they would or should - it would be for the tax payer's MLE ($5.6m). Even then, I think that's a generous estimate.
2021 Houston Rockets
PG: Kyrie Irving/Patty Mills/Jalen Brunson
SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington
C: Kristaps Porzingis/Bobby Portis/James Wiseman

Smart.

Although let's say we were to lose one of Terry or Marcus- I would love IT off the bench for this team, so long as we retain a class defender to cover his butt on defense.

Nothing wrong with more firepower in this golden state of the NBA.
My pic is now, and will be Fab Melo until he posts his first official NBA dbl-dbl. This may be permanent.

Smart.  He makes an impact on winning.

I don't feel like IT would get the showcasing he desires because he really needs a starting role to shine and build up his market value.  He won't be happy coming off the bench in a rotation role.

Smart accepts his role with the C's and excels at it.

pretty much agree with this.  Bring smart back, but right now we aren't competing against anyone.  No one has made Smart an offer as far as I know.  Why do we need to rush to get something done?

If no one does then let him take the qualifying offer.  See what happens with Rozier.  Lets see how far we get with this team and go from there.

IT... ugg sorry that ship has sailed.  For so many reasons, explained in so many threads here.

Personally I'd like to bring both of them back but if choosing one it's Smart.  The reason I'd bring Thomas back is I think Larkin would want more money, while Thomas would be looking to do something to help himself taking less.  In order I think to even sign someone, I would like for us to trade Yabusele for a second round pick in a couple years.  Nader can be release and not be held against us.  Ojeleye I believe needs to stay on the roster and I think Theis is someone to keep for the year.  With doing this the roster would look something like this.

Starting Five
Center - Horford
Power Forward - Tatum
Small Forward - Hayward
Shooting Guard - Brown
Point Guard - Irving

Bench Roster
Center - Baynes
Center/Power Forward - Williams
Center/Power Forward - Theis
Small Forward - Ojeleye
Small Forward - Morris
Shooting Guard/Point Guard - Smart
Shooting Guard/Point Guard - Rozier
Point Guard - Thomas
Point Guard - Wanamaker

Shooting Guard - Bird if we're able to keep on a two-way contract.

With having up to four first round picks next years, Theis, Morris, Thomas and Wanamaker would be off the roster.  It's crazy when we have to look at how next years draft is going to affect our roster and could be in a large way if we don't condense our roster and picks.  I look at Smart as a must sign because he can play really three positions specially with playing defense against small forwards.  Same with Rozier that should be signed next year to an extension as he can play the point or two guard if we go small.

Smart.

If DA and CBS think IT would come here to be Eddie House for 15-20 mpg of positive attitude, spark plug, change of pace offense — without checking his watch or calling for the Brinks Truck  — i think he could be an asset.

C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin
