Reasons for: Had extremely limited minutes in game as a rookie
Reportly had the yips as a rookie, could get confidence against summer league comp
Conditioning. Has always run a bit thicker in build, unclear if concerns about chick filet diet are real or a joke

Reasons against: ego, top pick could think he is above it
Risk of further injury additional injury
Risk trade value if performs poorly

What say you celtics nation? I am genuinely curious, but also pretty surprised he is not playing.

The problem isn't his talent or skill, it's his head.  I'd tell him to enjoy his summer, stay away from basketball, stay in shape, and we'll see you in September.

He should, but it would hurt his trade value if he did, so they won't.   I don't believe any of the crap about the yips.  Did he have the Yips the second half of the NCAAs where he did not play, too?  Sick of the excuses about this guy.

The guy will be a bust. That's the draft. Some players can bring it to the nba, some can't. Fultz looks like he cant

It is far too early to say that.

why wouldn't he play? he hasn't done anything to prove he is above it.
crazy how far philly is going to babysit this kid

i agree that the real reason he's not playing is bc if he sucks which he definitely might, his trade value would go even further down.

The Sixers are protecting his ego, as many teams in this situation would.  It may be that they feel obligated to focus energy on cleaning up a mess they are partially responsible for, too.

Markelle Fultz is Wayne Turner 2.0.  For the youngsters here go check him out.  One of the 6 or 7 ugliest jumpers of all-time.  Flamed out in the NBA after being great in college at Kentucky.

I think I agree with this. They’re still protecting his ego, as he’s still in the process of changing his shot.

I’d probably do the same; the risk/reward ratio just isn’t favorable to him playing right now.

For someone who bashes me for replying to posts about the Sixers, it is amazing how much you post about the Sixers.

Summer league means nothing.  Did Embiid not playing in summer league hurt his development?  Fultz should not play until he's physically and mentally ready to do so.  The Yips is serious.  He's only been working with Drew Hanlin for around a month.  That needs to be his focus.  He's not going to get his confidence back by playing summer league.
