  • GOT IT!!!
He's going to LA to kick back and chill with his boy LeBron. The plan all along. What a weird team. That locker room should be interesting.

ESPN Sources with @royceyoung: Oklahoma City, Carmelo Anthony will part ways this summer, likely saving team over $100M. Thunder working with 'Melo's reps on exits that include trade, stretch provision.

if he’s so bad, you won’t be mad if he went to golden state, right?

La lineup of rondo, Leonard, Lebron, Carmelo, love?

How are they trading for Leonard AND Love?

Without Deng (who nobody should take), I don’t think they have the tradeable salaries to make it work.

It may be hard to move Ball. Ingram, Kuzma/Hart and picks may get them Kawhi, but what gets them Love? Spurs don’t want Ball and Cavs just drafted their PG of the future. Unless Magic and LeBron get creative (which they haven’t been, at all), I don’t see how they deal Ball.

Given his skills (diminished as they are)? I’d take him. He’s better than Marcus Morris, easily.

But given all his baggage and ego, I think he’d do more harm than good here, skills aside. So in the end, pass.

If we're just talking signing Carmelo for the veteran minimum, then I think it's a no brainer. Proven 20+ ppg go to scorers don't exactly grow on trees. If he sits down with Danny and Brad, and buys into the system, then I have no issue. Afterall, the Celtics could very easily just cut Carmelo if it doesn't work out.

You're missing 'heck no' from your possible answers.

Let him go to Golden State, he'll probably take shots away from Curry, Durant and Thompson thinking he's the man there lol.

I thought my comment made it clear that I couldn't care less where he goes.

He is at best marginally an upgrade offensively over our 2nd unit, or on any team. He is the worst defender I have ever seen these past few years... The funny thing is, when he's engaged, he's actually a great defender. But he takes plays off like no other... I was always very high on him in the past, but now I'm wary of investing in someone like him... Why do you think OKC is trying to get rid of him?

If Melo was anything like he was in 2013-2014, Presti would eat the cost and wise up. He let Harden go, because he was trying to save them money financially. And it blew up in their face. Melo just isn't that good enough to even warrant anything more than 12 million max.

That being said, Lakers trying to build a super team from 2012.

It may only cost the veteran minimum now. If you wait for a possible injury, then you have to trade assets for most likely a less talented player than Carmelo. He's not going to be on the market long. Then again, if you do sign him, the Celtics will have the option of either cutting or trading him if it doesn't work out.

Some guy should never wear Boston Green and Melo is one of them, too much "Me" in Melo

4 years ago, I would've ignored that comment, but now after seeing how Melo has played, and how he proclaims he 'sacrificed,' so much when there is no way he was anything more than a 3nd option at OKC. I'd steer clear of him. He's just not that good enough at any facet of the game. Always been a poor % shooter, defense fell off a steep cliff, and just awful personality...

Melo is like LeBron, minus being good at anything... He wants to brand himself, or be in a big market to have monumental success after basketball. Fine, good luck, but stop kidding yourself that you're bigger than you really are.

If I remember correctly, Sam Presti was trying to save the team around $6M by trading Harden. Buying out Carmelo can save the team around $100M. This has nothing to do with the talent of the player, but rather the cost to keep him. There is no player in the league where a team will absorb $100M to keep one player.
