Could it be true?

Spurs turned this deal down, does this give Irving reason to not resign?  Paul George was a little upset the Lakers didn’t go all in for him.

Interesting.

Maybe the Spurs should have taken it.

I don't. The deal would've been done. The Spurs would leap at that.

Me neither.  I’m sure this is the same guy who was all-in on the Blake Griffin nonsense two years ago.

Yeah, there's no way Danny ever made that offer.  It doesn't even make sense from a roster composition standpoint.

I don’t believe it as well, but it might make sense, if Ainge would consider flipping one of our wings (preferably Hayward?) and picks for a big (Davis, KAT, Porzingis?). Rozier and Smart would be more than capable of running the offense for that team and could cost about the same as Kyrie alone long term. But the payroll for that group would be insane (yet adequate to the talent and depth).

It does make sense talent-wise though

Kawhi > Kyrie

The rule of thumb in any trade is the team getting the best player involved usually wins.

Assuming

-Danny believes that Kyrie is planning to leave next summer via free agency
or
-Kawhi is willing to commit long term with the C's

I'm OK with this trade.

Having said that, I don't believe the rumor is legit.

This guy is a joke... anytime I see anything with Dan Lifeshatz’s name on it I assume the opposite is true. He posts bogus every year.

Problem is, we cannot afford both Smart and Rozier (going forward). Unless we are willing to let Rozier walk, we have to trade him by the trade deadline.

What I would do, is make a subsequent trade for another PG and then trade Rozier at the deadline for the best pick I could possibly get.

Let's say Morris for Beverley straight up.

(all the above assuming Danny wants to keep Smart over Rozier)

Couldn’t we though? I mean, the tax bill could be outragous, but the combined salaries of Rozier and Smart might be less than Kyrie’s supermax salary and they along with Jb would eat up all of the guard minutes. It’s pricey, but still around the numbers the Kyrie/JB guard rotation would cost. One could dream... :)
