Philly is the media choice but the media is wrong as Philly has some flawed players.  We are the BEAST OF THE EAST but we have to put TOR in their place....

It makes no sense the media has Philly over us. We beat them soundly in the playoffs both teams are young and we were missing our 2 best players.  :o

No. We're cleary the favorites (and arguably were before Lebron left, too). It's possible that other moves will change that (Kawhi to the 76ers would at least put them close to us), but right now we're definitely the favorites
I'm bitter.

What media is saying this?  Put some links to this supposed media. I see this on here a lot, but yet I haven't heard any of this or seen any of this.  Vegas pretty clearly has Boston as the Eastern favorite and has since the season ended.

Oh don't worry. Morning just started. All the major sports talk shows will be coming soon (or are happening now). We'll see.

Today the Celtics are the favorite to win the East.  That could change in one day though depending on a trade or signing.
What possible signing or trade could do that?

For example, trade for Kawhi, sign Randle or Favors and Evans or Bradley or Smart.

I listened to them and none of them said anything like this.  I just can't stand this sort of BS on this site.  Gives C's fans a bad name when they poor mouth, especially with things that just aren't true.

I was watching Sportscenter last night, and sometime around 1:15 am, one of the ESPN experts was being interviewed on LeBron joining the Lakers (If I remember his name, I'll come back with the answer). To end the interview, there was a question on who he thinks is the favorite to win the East now that LeBron has left. He thought about it for a few seconds and said Philadelphia. I remember thinking why in the world is he even thinking about an answer, when it's clearly the Celtics. I also remember laughing when I saw the updated Vegas odds and the Lakers being tied with the Celtics as being the second best favorites to win the title.

You are reading the odds wrong.

Gambling odds depict what the average gambler thinks as more possible. And Lakers now having Lebron will draw a lot of bets and hence their rank high. That doesn't mean  that with basketball criteria they belong that hight

I understand how betting odds work. I'm shocked that Vegas has the Lakers at 7-2 odds, since I can't imagine many people wagering. Vegas won't get any action on the Lakers unless the odds improve to 15-1 or 20-1. The risk/reward has to be tempting for the betting public.

Keep in mind that Vegas is only 5 hours away from LA, and there is a big betting culture in both cities that favors the Lakers. Tons of Lakers fans there. IMO it explains some of the bets. These people are emotional.

Yeah the gambling odds are pretty clear that we're now the favorites.

Now the team has to go out and perform. (and please just stay healthy please!)

Absolutely the Eastern Conference favorites now and I don't think its really that close if this team stays healthy.

Celtics are favorites with a healthy roster. Personally, I wanted James to stay in Cleveland so we could escort him out of the playoffs the way we used to do. I hate all this "happiness" because Lebron left the East. I want to beat my rivals, not run from them.

Celts will remain favorites long-term if Danny doesn't trade away young talent and alienate remaining players in the process.

people need to stop worrying about crap out their control. LEBRON IS A PRIME EXAMPLE. nobody here is running from lebron. LEBRON KNEW HE WAS TOAST NEXT YEAR IF HE STAYED. we would beat his ass.

I spend my life worrying about crap I have no control over.

BWAHAHAHAHAHA   ;)
LET'S GO CELTICS!

Odds this morning:
GSW 5-4
Boston 4-1
Lakers 5-1
Rockets 10-1
Philly 20-1

So Boston definitely the favorite in the East. Feels kinda surreal going into a season like this again! But who knows, trades and signings still can happen.
