LeBron James vs Kyrie Irving NBA Finals. That'll be the end game.

Sucks though how Boston spent years rebuilding their team while the Lakers just suddenly became an instant contender by adding one free agent player to their team after years of sufferage and mediocrity.

That Lakers team still has a looooong way to go before reaching the Finals. They gotta get a better roster to surround Lebron or else GS and Houston will sweep them.

Boston on the other hand, yeah. our road is wide open to the Finals  ;D

This guarantees James an early summer vaca, and hopefully for us, with good health, a finals appearance.

As long as Kawhi stays away from the Lakers. (LeBron can have Cousins, the Pels were better without him.)

Glad to have him out of the east!

The east belongs to Boston for YEARS TO COME.

And the Lakers? They will be seeing some early playoff exits, and LeBron will continue losing to the Warriors (and Houston) in the West.

If both of these things are true, where do you see Kawhi going?

Are there any options on the contract? Should we read anything into the fact that he went for the full four years? Does he know his body doesn’t have that much more in the tank and is taking advantage of one last big contract?

I read into it that he trusts the Lakers to spend.  He had those short deals in Cleveland in part to force ownership to use their resources.  He knows the Lakers will.

Contender, yes, but let's wait and see what else the Lakers do. Right now, they have no shot at getting past GS or Houston in the playoffs.

No way should Toronto be below 2.

gotta think there is more to come for LA.

They were probably holding off on trading Ingram AND Kuzma to San Antonio unless they got LeBron. Now that "the king has landed" i'll bet the deal goes through.

Then sign Cousins to a short term deal and hope for the best. Then fill out the roster with vets with the minimum trying to chase a ring ala the 2008 Celtics

2018/19 Lakers probably end up looking something like..

PG: Lonzo Ball / Devin Harris
SG: Caldwell-Pope / Josh Hart
SF: Kawhi Leonard / Jeff Green
PF: LeBron James / Dante Cunningham
C: DeMarcus Cousins / Ivica Zubac

Not a bad squad but not beating the battle tested Warriors (and this is probably best case scenario for the Lakers)

So not too worried.

  • Let's Go Celtics!
I think Philly should back off of Kawhi and kick the tires on trading for Kevin Love. They have the cap space to absorb his deal outright. He'd fit really well with Embiid and Simmons.
2021 Houston Rockets
PG: Kyrie Irving/Patty Mills/Jalen Brunson
SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington
C: Kristaps Porzingis/Bobby Portis/James Wiseman

Hopefully not the Sixers or Lakers.

With lebron they still have more than 40 million in cap space for this season, because they have some of the most productive contracts in the league (Kuzma and Ingran). They could be a VERY VERY good team from the start. They will not save money for next season.

Sources: Kentavious Caldwell-Pope agreed to a one-year, $12M deal with the Lakers.

No Boogie then for the Lakers. I bet Kawhi is just a matter of time.

Wow, so KCP now reups with LAL for $12M, meaning most likely no other big free agents. They must have a Kawhi trade in the works already.

Who's left out there that's worth that cap money? They still have a long way to go before they can hope to get past GS and Houston.
