If Marcus Smart isnt resign, Payton might be a good replacement
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

Doesn't play defense. Don't trust his jumper. Two of the worst teams in the league decided he couldn't help them in the past 6 months. Classic guy who puts up nice stats down the stretch every year for tanking teams.

Wouldn't sign him for a dollar over the minimum

The Suns traded for Payton in hopes he could be the point guard that could compliment Booker in the back court.

Clearly, this is has not been the case.

If the Pheonix Suns, a team that desirably needs a solid upgrade at PG didn't consider Payton good enough. That should tell you everything that you need to know.

Lol, whatever you say.

I guess you could say the Suns let him 'walk for free,' am I right?

Except Payton doesn't play defense and has consistently draw criticism for his effort while Smart is an elite defender whose effort draws universal praise from coaches teammates and opponents alike.

Other than that sure. Pretty similar.

Hopefully the Suns aren't clearing cap space to sign Marcus to a 4 year 60 million dollar deal. He would fit in really nicely with The Suns but it would suck for us to lose him.

I couldn't stand seeing that hair (reverse mullet) for an entire season. I can barely stand it for a couple games that I have to watch.
