This is before the CBA is up, but apparently signals the league is open to discussing that point with the players before the expiration of it. 
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

I wonder if they are trying to get NO, Portland and Denver to get G League affiliates in place before changing the eligibility to give the straight out of high school players an option besides the corrupt NCAA.

No, I think they just don’t want to create draft pool uncertainty as teams are preparing to make trades in the next month.  Uncertainty 3-4 years out would always happen, but we know teams look a year or two ahead when making trades, as Ainge discussed last year about the pick swap.

hypothetically the Memphis pick we have could be unprotected in 2021.

Top 8 protected in 2019.  Top 6 protected in 2020.
