Iím looking for advice for what to get. I am a long frustrated handyman.  I have had zero luck with handheld circular saws. I donít need anything industrial, but Iíd like something that will last a long time, be manageable enough for me to learn and be big enough to handle a piece of plywood.

I have pretty much decided on a Dewalt of some sort.  Place near me is having a decent promotion on them.  They have a portable one, but Iím sure how much Iím sacrificing (and whether what Iím sacrificing is beyond my needs anyhow).  They also have a rechargeable battery operated unit.

Any carpenters out there?

Soooo sick of lethal weapon debates,

Can we just all agree that Steve Buscemi would make a great democrat?

Right now, my main idea is to use it to cut plywood into narrower planks.  Beyond that, general purpose as I try out new ideas.

I haven't done carpentry in almost 5 years, but I can give you a little input if you would like. Feel free to message me if you have any specific types of questions.

So for on job performance, nothing beats Dewalt brand in my eyes in terms of durability. If I am being honest though, for non handheld equipment, the gap in quality isnt huge.

And as a side note, my fathers company sold hardware for years, and he swears by dewalt products. Just my 2 cents.

Far and away, the best on market. Although, none of these saws will easily handle 4x8 sheets of ply. You need a bigger setup to do that with ease.

I don't really have any advice other than to say I am looking for something similar.  I don't have a big area for a shop, so I am looking for something with a smaller footprint and this one seems pretty small.

Let us know how it works out for you.

Most portable table saes will struggle to handle a 4*8 piece of playwood. You can look at a track saw if that's what you want to do and don't want to drop thousands on a shop model that can handle large pieces. For smaller rips on a piece of plywood you can get a rip guide for any circular sawif you're struggling to hold your line.

Don't think you can go wrong with that.

Yep.  They seem to have to have an awesome market.

Thanks.  I think I'm going to set up some horses at the height of the table on a stand.  I'll start looking at some YouTube videos, because I don't even know what half the terminology means!

I saw that joke coming.
ďWhen an alien resides with you in your land, you shall not oppress the alien. The alien who resides with you shall be to you as the citizen among you; you shall love the alien as yourself, for you were aliens in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.Ē
