And [in addition to Brown] Boston probably would have to include this year’s draft pick, as well as at least one pick next year, when the Celtics own Sacramento’s pick (protected for the first overall pick) as well as Memphis’ pick (top-eight protected).

Seriously?  Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.?  A #3 pick who has exceeded expectations PLUS two other picks for a #5?  LOL

We can go ahead and block Donnie Nelson's number if he actually thinks it's reasonable to ask for Brown and two other firsts for the #5.

I wouldn't trade Brown for the #5 straight up.

It doesn’t even save us money in a time when we’re being careful about the luxury tax, either, as Brown will make less than the #5 pick this year (from a cap and tax perspective).

That's hilarious. #3 pick pans out nicely = trade him plus 2x 1st rounders for the #5 pick.

In a strange world where we must deal with Dallas, it would clearly be the other way around. For example:

Brown, #27
DAL #5, DAL 2019

I still wouldn't do it, because with Brown and the possibility of free agency they might not suck so much next year, but it's closer to reality.

Yes, Brown is seriously underestimated. In my book Brown belongs to the best ten young players (under 23) in the NBA. I would rank him something like this:

1   Karl-Anthony Towns
2   Jayson Tatum
3   Devin Booker
4   Ben Simmons
5   Donovan Mitchell
6   Kristaps Porzingis
7   Jaylen Brown
8   Lauri Markkanen
9   Brandon Ingram
10   Jamal Murray
11   Lonzo Ball
12   Josh Jackson
13   Aaron Gordon
14   De'Aaron Fox
15   John Collins
16   Dennis Smith Jr.
17   Myles Turner
18   Domantas Sabonis
19   Kyle Kuzma
20   Dejounte Murray

I agree for the most part. I'd argue he could be higher than Kristaps considering the injury concerns and the way Brown fits positionless basketball.

Yuck. Shades of the awful Butler/Cousins/George rumors.

Wow, 46-0. I don't think I've ever seen a poll that was 100% with so many people having voted.

Mike

Poll is now 59-0!!

Don't take it so literally. What Deveney writes is: "And [in addition to Brown] Boston probably would have to include [...]". The use of 'probably' indicates that Deveney doesn't know what Dallas would demand in a trade for the 5th pick.

Sure, Dallas would initially try to get the best possible offer from Ainge but that doesn't mean that they wouldn't settle for less, for example, a package that only includes Jaylen.

Nonetheless, I don't think we would have to worry about such a trade. Ainge isn't that stupid.
Jack of all trades, master of none.

It’s a lateral trade at best. Rozier in a contract year is going to give everything he can. Even iif we loae him at the end of the year, we then get a Kings pick in 2019 when we can truly take “best plagee available”

We will have room for a backup pg/combo guard and likely a big.

Rozier can help us win a title. That is the reason you make trades. If the deal was for Ayton, who seems more of a sure thing, then yes. We just don’t know that any of these bigs translate to starting caliber big man by mid-season. In my opinion, that happening is what would allow the team to genuinely compete for a championship next year. Keeping Rozier gives us a very quantifiable asset, and worst case scenario, he can be flipped near the trade deadline

I wish there was a neither option but I voted the same way as everyone else. Brown for #5 is a non starter. I wouldn't do Rozier and a pick that might turn out to be better than #5 next season for #5 this season also seems steep.

I'm mostly in favor of bringing Rozier back but if #5 could be gotten for Rozier, #27, and either the Memphis or Clipper pick, I think I would have to do that. I'm not a draft expert either. If I fully believed that Bamba was Rudy Gobert with an emerging jump shot then I would probably trade Rozier, Morris, #27, and either Mem/Clip pick.

pretty shocked if anyone would consider trading Brown for a prospect. This doesn't fit our timeline with hayward, horford and Irving and Brown is already proven as a near all-star caliber player. Doesn't look like anyone here would, so why is this thread a thing?

Old habits die hard, maybe. For the last several years it's been all about THE BIG MOVE.

Now, we don't need one, but some people still seem to be looking for it.

The big move is more fun to think about than the little tweak to a contending team.

Sign Smart, and Baynes and maybe even Morris and see what our existing team plays like.
