When LeBron wins a title with a franchise, nobody really thinks about the role of the franchise or the team in that title. It's all about LeBron.

I don't know, call me crazy, but I want to see the Celtics win a title with a team constructed via draft and trade primarily.

I don't want it to seem to others, or feel to me, like LeBron chose to win a title wearing the Celtics uniform as opposed to some other one. I think it would feel like watching LeBron win a title instead of watching the Celts win a title.

There is some truth to this but people will get over it. Especially if the team wins the title. The Cava title was indeed LeBrons because of the way he left them and the went back to beat the 73 win jauggernaut. The Miami wins were shared. Boston is too big a franchise for anyone to swallow.

I'll play along with Toine.

Say PG goes back to the Pacers. Would Lakers jump at
Hayward for Ball? Ball would replace Smart.

C's let Baynes and all other non guaranteed contracts to sign LeBron.

Irving, Brown, LeBron, Tatum, Horford.
Rozier, Ball, Semi, Morris, Theis

I think this could work if Irving and LeBron are good to team up.

Narrative of LeBron joining C's is blame the Warriors mega team. In, "my enemy's enemy is my friend" kind of deal.

Play along?   That is jumping off a cliff and suiciding the team.  Not to mention the Lakers win that trade and DA would be run out of town.

I'm not advocating we bring Lebron in, but I was just thinking about the potential lineup and roster if they did a S&T involving Smart, Morris, Yabusele, 2 future picks for him...

PG: Kyrie/Rozier/Larkin
SG: Jaylen/J. Bird(?)
SF: Lebron/Tatum/Ojeyele
PF: Hayward/Theis
C: Horford/Baynes

Might need to find some way to bring in another backup SG, and I'm assuming we'd bring back Baynes with MLE and Larkin with the minimum. But that team is unstoppable. I'm even willing to say we beat Golden State in 5 with that team (assuming we're healthy of course).

Another ? mark would be, would Lebron fit in to the whole "team basketball" mantra the C's preach and make a few sacrifices along the way. If so, that's a fantastic team. If not (he stays extremely ball dominant), then we could still win but also have many hiccups along the way.

Okay, that's just stupid. Lebron can't play in a team system? Really? I despise the guy but come on, and also Stevens would be the best coach Lebron's played for.

And I don't think they really need a backup SG in that scenario. Jabari could help with depth at the guard position and that's all they probably need (barring injury).

That’s the worst Hayward trade proposal I’ve ever seen
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

I'm not saying you don't get more back as far as future picks but it's a cap space move to get LeBron. The team can't take back too much salary.

He makes a lot of good plays and has solid defense. If he sticks to that he can replace Smart as the guard defender off the bench. I still feel we need that on the team. Like Smart though he shouldn't shoot more than 4x a game

Huh?? Lonzo Ball is definitely not a good defender by any means. He's maybe passable.

With his absolute inability to score with any type of efficiency, I say no thank you. The problem with him is that he is like Smart - no conscience with their shot selection.

Lonzo Ball in several years can become a better defender than Smart

He was also a rookie playing for a bad team. You can't really compare them for that reason.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Folks actually defending the idea of trading Hayward for Ball and saying Ball can be more efficient and a better defender than Smart.
