He needs to work on his strength while maintaining his speed and jumping to fight the stripping that happens when he drives, his free throws, his shooting and his handle.

His feel for the game may prevent him from ever being a star.

If you are going to go at Korver then you should clearly be able to dominate him. That wasn't the case. Korver held his own on Brown. He was trying to go at Korver like LeBron would go at Rozier. Clearly not as advantageous as the results would show.

Given his age, smarts, and athleticism, I'd be giving him the benefit of the doubt.

  • STAND FIRM, SAY NO TO VIBE MEN
- Shoot free throws more consistently.
- Looking to get a bigger extension on his layups, to increase his finishing rate at the rim.
- Practice falling/tumbling, as he often gets in those situations and it might prevent injuries.
- Boxing out with more regularity on rebounds.
- Learn how to defend in the post.
- Tighten his handle, especially on his left hand.
This and developing some go to moves.

Weird. Despite getting hurt, he played like a star in the playoffs. He had a bad game. I would point out that LeBron had two pretty disappointing outings in the series himself.

His easiest fix is to spend a lot of time on some basic footwork. His pivots are terrible. He doesn't have the basic techniques down. With his other talents and attributes, he could destroy people in the post if he learned a few move sequences.

He's an awesome young talent, and complements Tatum perfectly. I expect Jaylen to be an all-star next year.

For Brown, his free throw shooting is a reflection of his confidence on a certain night.

Free Throws. Every single day.

If he can hit FT's better, his scoring average goes up 3-4 points right there.

His feel for the game may prevent him from ever being a star.

How do you even evaluate something like that? Purely eye test? ???  ::)

HIs handle and his hands are not very good. And both are really hard to develop. If you have bad hands I'm not sure you can improve them that much.  Look at all the NFL wideouts who can fly but never are able to catch anything.  That's not necessarily a skill that improves with age.

FT shooting is obvious.

Having a plan B when he goes to a hole is another big issue. He gets tunnel vision and doesn't pass out when the opposition crowds the paint like the Cavs did this series daring us to shoot outside. He ended up getting stuffed when he was doubled. This was a problem when he came into the league too.

This.

One thing that would help is if he gets better at drawing contact. He's strong enough to finish through almost anyone so When he goes to the rim he should be looking for that contact a la Paul Pierce to get himself easy points at the line.

FT shooting.

I think he needs to improve his feel for the game too. He was struggling to shoot three's last night, and decided to keep shooting rather than to attack. He needs to know when he's cold and learn that he can be an offensive threat even if he can't buy a basket from behind the arc.

2nd this.
Learn to post up properly.. Watch and learn how Jordan did his thing on the box without being blocked.. Jaylen is stronger than MJ so he can easily replicate those moves.
