If/when they lose Lebron, they will still be well above the salary cap without the ability - or desire - to sign anybody else since the they will not want to be paying the luxury tax for a borderline playoff team.
Taking on George Hill and Clarkson for the next two years ($31.5M/yr) plus giving up their 1st was very questionable given their chances to win a championship this year. Hey, Houston could win one of the next two and Paul could be out for the finals and it could work out great; I'm just not sure it really made any difference.
Like, they could have traded their 1st for Nance and basically had the same result. It's not like Crowder, IT, and Wade suck. I understand team morale wasn't exactly soaring at the deadline, but [most] everyone buys in once the playoffs start.
