The Cavs are at just under $140 million for next year with ONLY 11 players signed!!  They likely will not be able to afford Hood (and I doubt that they want to pay him anyways as he has NOT worked out great with them).  I would think that Jeff Green will get 5-7 million easily, so you would have to add that on and then they have to add at least 2 more players, correct, or do you have to have 15 now?

Old roster. No cap space and no real assets to improve it

If the Cavs are struggling with Boston without KI and GH...I do not see that roster overcoming the Cs going forward.

They're screwed ;D

If I'm Altman, or whatever his name is, I'd be a very sad man
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

If/when they lose Lebron, they will still be well above the salary cap without the ability - or desire - to sign anybody else since the they will not want to be paying the luxury tax for a borderline playoff team.

Taking on George Hill and Clarkson for the next two years ($31.5M/yr) plus giving up their 1st was very questionable given their chances to win a championship this year. Hey, Houston could win one of the next two and Paul could be out for the finals and it could work out great; I'm just not sure it really made any difference.

Like, they could have traded their 1st for Nance and basically had the same result. It's not like Crowder, IT, and Wade suck. I understand team morale wasn't exactly soaring at the deadline, but [most] everyone buys in once the playoffs start.

Huh? No they won't.

Now if Lebron walked AND they traded away Love, they'd have some cap space, but not much I imagine still. JR, Thompson, Korver, Hill and Clarkson combined make like 68M lol.

I expect it James leaves, they will burn it down. Love, Thompson, Smith, Korver will all be traded and the Cavs will being the tank.

Yeah everyone talks about it being Lebron's possible last moments in Cleveland, but it might be Love's too.

And good luck finding any takers for Thompson and JR lol.

Why pay Love the big money when you are not making the playoffs anytime soon. Cleveland better enjoy James because in about three months...boy they are going to be terrible. Heck even WITH James, they are not beating Boston and the Sixers

Yeah if Lebron walks, I wouldn't be surprised if Love is dealt. And honestly I think there would be interest for him around the league. In today's NBA, 22M/Year for a guy like Love (averaging 20/10 as a secondary option) is really good, and not as absurd as some of the other contracts now.

to sign whom exactly? i cannot imagine anyone remotely as good as lebron taking that slot, which, as was pointed above, doesnt really exist. indeed, i am not sure anyone of real worth would want to play on that team next year.

i see a complete tear down coming in cleveland. love and everyone worth a draft pick should be sold off. take on crappy salaries if they have draft picks stapled to them. this doesnt have to be "toxic process II" but a rebuild needs to be done.

Yep. Like 15 wins bad. They are going to sell off their players for picks and cap space.

The cap will be $101m, LeBron does not make $40m. So no they won't have cap space.
