Pretty good outcome for us.

Cleveland didn't jump up.

Philly didn't get #1.

Memphis drops out of the top 3, which (very) slightly improves their chances of sucking for longer and therefore transferring their pick when it's unprotected.

The Kings getting into the top 3 probably doesn't hurt too much since they need a lot more than a single high-level rookie to become respectable next year.  Tatums and Mitchells are relatively rare.

Oh well it was a pipe dream anyway... time to start the Kings thread
is the Kings pick unprotected?

Only for the overall #1 overall pick.  If that happens, we get two second rounders which would be horrible.
No, the idea is that they’ll be better next year and thus our pick will be worse.

Ya, i'm not worried.

Is there any protection on the Kings pick next year for us?
Yes, if it’s 1 we get the Sixers pick, which is worse case scenario.

The way I see it now, only two things happen for Cleveland.

1. Lebron leaves them and they KEEP the pick (#8)

2. Cavaliers trade the pick + pieces to acquire another star to pair with Lebron (and Love?)

I don't think there's a scenario where they keep Lebron AND the pick. Don't think Bron Bron wants to bring in a young prospect when he wants to "win now". He'll want that pick traded for some star.

OR... if CLE wins it all, then maybe it doesn't matter lol

I don't see the #8 pick plus any of the junk they have on the roster getting them a star.

Who knows, maybe a team like Washington or Portland is desperate and they flip McCollum or Beal to CLE for the BKN Pick + Clarkson, Nance and a bad contract?

Is there any protection on the Kings pick next year for us?
Quote
The future first-round pick that Boston will receive will be the Los Angeles Lakers’ first-round pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, provided that such pick is No. 2, No. 3, No. 4, or No. 5 in the 2018 NBA Draft. If the Lakers’ 2018 first-round pick is No. 1 or is No. 6 or later, the Sixers will instead convey to the Celtics the rights to the more favorable of the Sixers’ own 2019 first-round pick or the Sacramento Kings’ 2019 first-round pick, provided that the more favorable pick is not the No. 1 pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. If the more favorable of the Sixers’ and Kings’ 2019 first-round picks is the No. 1 pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, the Sixers will instead convey the rights to the less favorable of those two picks.

If it ends up being the first pick, we lose it.

exactly. These big guys take time to develop, and doncic can’t do anything on his own

Seriously. Can you imagine trading a young star for something like the #8 pick, Hill, Hood, and Jordan Clarkson? That would suck  :P
I'm bitter.

And for people  who really think the lottery is rigged, why would the league want Atlanta or Sacramento picking in the top 3?

Hawks, Kings, and Suns.. Hmm...

Suns would benefit from the first pick. Ayton would be their missing piece. Hawks desperately need either Doncic or Bagley.
judging from their record, the suns are lacking way more that a "missing piece."

Kings got 2. I’ll take it. They probably take bagley who is good but not amazing. Since they have fox I doubt they take doncic

Doncic to the Kings.  Probably won't move the needle bigtime in year one, right?
