Yes, Tatum was the first choice. But ainge plays a complete game when planning the draft.

What if philly or LA pick Tatum? Then I think ainge goes for Jackson over ball.

I think what players are starting to figure out is that in the modern NBA the size of the city doesn't matter like it used to but what does make a big difference, monetarily, is if your team is good and goes deep into the playoffs. Tatum and Brown having more eyeballs on them right now in the conference finals than they could ever have in any regular season game. People who don't even watch NBA basketball November to April will check out the Finals.

The most lucrative thing a player can do, I think, is make the NBA Finals as much as possible and be seen by the most people while they have to share the spotlight with the fewest players.
