Hearing the radio show last week, some caller tried to put them down that this is not true. And to look at CBS as a prime example

Then Felger asked the caller, at this second...would you rather have CBS or a healthy Kyrie for the playoffs?  The caller kind of stumbled to pick, and they basically stated along the lines "Thats what I thought"

Do you agree or disagree?

Is this even a question?  The NBA is a players league.  Period, end of story.

If you are trying to win a championship, you want the superstar. A great coach can help put the system in place or make the adjustments to make a bad team competent, or a good team great and help win a lot of regular season games. They can even get you through a play off series or two especially if the overall talent of the teams is similar. But they aren't going to carry you to a championship, we saw this last year in the ECF.

I'm not saying coaches don't make a difference at all.  But players are much more important.  Tyron Lue won a title for god's sake.

1.Superstar come and go, Coach can for 20+ years
2.Without Brad we don't even make the playoffs

So right now if you could choose 1

would you rather have CBS or Kyrie?

I would rather have Brad Stevens...

Even without Kyrie, we managed to snag not only Horford, and Hayward, but we increased our wins every year, our team now has the team first, instead of the look-at-what-I-can-do prima donna attitudes that some superstars carry with them. And we are living proof that even if you have one strong superstar, (Giannis,) winning games are still indubitably difficult, and Giannis is already expressing resentment in how their squandering each season.

Don't get me wrong, superstars are equally, if not more important. But there are sometimes in games where even superstars aren't able to make up for that.

The original question was which one would you rather have for these playoffs.  I’d take a healthy Kyrie.  Long term I’d take Stevens without blinking an eye.

I'm leaning towards this also

I hate Felger and Mazz, but I agree with them here.

I'd take a few superstars in this case.

Still love CBS though!!

But even with the best coaches out there (Pop, Phil Jackson, etc.), they ultimately needed superstars to actually win the titles (Duncan, Robinson, Kobe, Shaq, MJ, etc.)

Pop has done a magnificent job this season despite not having Kawhi. But at the same time, we can't forget they are still the 7 seed in the West and currently on the verge of getting swept or losing in 5 games to the Warriors w/o Kawhi, even with a healthy all-star like Aldridge.

That doesn't mean that with an above-average roster and elite coach you can't go far in the playoffs, but realistically your odds of winning it all is really low.

But hey, maybe CBS proves us wrong this year and we nab Banner 18!  8)

I'd agree.  It's a player's league, so for the playoffs you take Kyrie, but a coach like Brad helps to develop those players long term (aka Jayson and Jaylen)
I'm bitter.

Ainge has proven you can have both, a great coach, and stars and that when the great coach is having a bad game, the stars can bail him out and that when the stars get hurt the coach can coach up the rest if the team to overcome.

So glad we have a GM that sees the importance of both.

I hate Felger and Mazz

Sometimes I'm not even sure how they have jobs as local hosts

they seem to be against/doubt every Boston teams. Except maybe for the Patriots
