With Kawhi becoming the NBA's Waldo, I was wondering whether anyone spotted Gordon at the game last night? Kyrie and Marcus were there, but I don't recall seeing Hayward, nor has he posted about the game on Twitter?

I actually asked the same question.  You'd think that he'd be there supporting his team in the playoffs from the bench.  I know I read somewhere he rehabs during the games at the facility but it would have been nice to see him there cheering with Marcus and Kyrie.

I noticed this too ... Kyrie, Smart, and Theisss (off his knee surgery) were all there and actively engaged in supporting the team.  I did not see GH.

I smell controversy!

  • That's turrible
I could see a couple reasons...

1. Wondering if he was spending time with his family. He does have two young daughters. He's gonna be playing games for the Boston Celtics for a while. Especially if they're a title contender starting next season, he won't get to see them very much with all these deep postseason runs. I could see that being a factor.

2. Does he still feel guilty/helpless watching the team play at all? He mentioned in his blog a while back that he still feels this way from time to time. That's probably not the reason, but I guess its one thought.

No concern with Gordy.  He appears to be a great teammate with an authentic loyalty to Brad.  I can't wait to get him back next season.

As I was watching the game, I was wondering the same thing. I understand that he is still rehabbing and hasn't been on the bench during the regular season. However, I was hoping to see him on the bench during the playoffs. He has played against some of these guys, and may notice tendencies and can offer advice to either Tatum or Brown. Both of those guys are young and will soak up any advice they can get, especially if it will help win a game in a series. Tatum and Brown have a lot of pressure to perform well and score in these playoffs, especially since the burden to score is on them now that Irving (and Hayward) and done for the season. The fact that Hayward plays their same positions just seems odd to me that he wouldn't be on the bench to help make some contribution in the teams biggest time of need.

Having said that, I still can't wait to see him on the court next season, nor do I question his dedication or loyalty to the Celtics.

  • Peace it's a board. We all will never agree.
It hurts his spirit. I think it is the reason. I read it somewhere.

2 1/2 of sitting is a long time. I think it is the reason. I read it somewhere.

At this point in his rehab, that seems like a weak excuse. The dude is posting Instagram picks of himself working out. So he can workout but can't sit? Even if that is the case where he can't sit for 2 1/2 hours, I'm sure he could get up and walk in the tunnel to loosen up. I'm just curious as to whos decision it is to not have him at the games and if it will continue during the playoffs.

Hayward had publically stated it is too difficult for him to be at the games.

Hayward was at the first half of the Golden State game in reg season and had to leave in 2nd half because it was too hard for him.

KG would not sit on the bench when injured because the frustration of being unable to play was too much for him. Nobody questioned his loyalty or commitment.

I like Gordon ... but leadership matters. Theiss has a right to be back in Germany yet he chose to be here. Kyrie making his presence known is a solid move.  GH not being there is not the end of the world but it bothers me.
