For all the talk of Kawhi Leonard, I feel Paul George is the potential missing piece and player who would really move the needle for the Celtics towards the finals, next season.

I am going to assume with the additions of Kyrie and Hayward, that we don't have cap space for George. However, what if the Celtics and OKC could work out a sign and trade?

What if George would rather play for the Celtics alongside Kyrie and Hayward as opposed for a team that's going nowhere in the Lakers (despite him being from LA)

Even if you take Tatum out of the equation, I still think Danny could put together a decent package.

Maybe either Rozier or Jaylen Brown, the Sacramento pick and Al Horford.

Then you could roll out an opening night lineup of

PG-Kyrie
SG-Tatum
SF-Hayward
PF-George
C-Baynes/Monroe/Theis

Brown + Horford + Sac pick for George makes us significantly worse.

Is the idea that we already have a starting PG and one wing coming off major leg injuries and surgeries, so we should add another wing who has the same history?

I could get behind a sign and trade of Horford for George straight-up, maybe even throw in a late 1st, but no reason to add Brown and the Sac pick. It is a S&T, not desperation city. It's OKC that stands to lose George for nothing.

I'm a huge Paul George fan, but I cannot think of any realistic scenario where acquiring him would help the Celtics.

That ship has long since sailed.

This is one of those threads that makes you wonder if some people have ever seen an NBA game or do they just look at a box score in their fantasy league and think all players are interchangeable.

1. That team is significantly worse with no one to match up at PF.
2. Tatum isn't a SG.

Jaylen Brown will be an All Star in the next 5 years.

Well we do have Morris and Yabu for this, not to mention whomever switchy big we pick with our late 1st. As for SG that's Jaylen's spot.
