Sources: Celtics guard Marcus Smart had reevaluation on torn right UCL Monday in New York and is expected to receive clearance to return to game action at six-week mark of surgery (April 27). Smart has been cleared to start light non-contact shooting.

I see no reason to shut Smart down.  He's not in the Celtic's future plans, but could give a nice boost to a young playoff team.  It's a win-win-win.

Absolutely not. This would backfire.

As far as keeping his value down....all it takes is one team with cap room who really wants him. That will determine his market.

What makes you say he's not in our future plans?

Absolutely no truth or reason behind that statement at all.

What insider information are you privy to? I can't imagine his value is that high, considering his injuries this year. If we can keep him for cheap we almost certainly will

Stop it with the "we should shut down x player for season" threads. The only reason we would shut Smart down for the season, would be if he wasn't healthy, and wasn't going to get healthy until the season ended. That's the only reason. Not because we might want to let him go, or resign him for cheap, or any of that. Same reason with Kyrie. We shut him down because he isn't healthy, and he won't be healthy until after the playoffs. Not because we don't have a real shot this year, or anything like that.
