why would they? what leads you to think this, may i ask?

is there something in the terms of the trade that stated such a thing would result form an injury? if so, that seems a bit unusual to me.

Because that's the extra pick the Cavs bled out of the Celtics for IT's "damaged goods tax".

That was before the deal was finalized. And the Celts knew about Kyrie's knee. The Cavs claimed that the Celts didn't fully reveal the extent of IT's injury. The league didn't force the Celts to add in the extra pick, the Cavs said they wouldn't finalize the deal without something else.

Last time I checked, the Cavs were right, IT is out for the year due to hip surgery and looked bad in the brief time he played for them
