If you heard his interview with S.A. Smith, he actually explained it quite well.  Essentially he had been negotiating with the C's and they told him they wanted to take care of KG and PP first.  When it came time to negotiate with him, they basically said, this is all we have, so take it or leave it.  Ray knew they had paid KG and PP a lot more money (and he wasn't saying he need their money), and they could have paid him more (they weren't limited to MLE or anything by cap rules), so to Ray it meant they didn't really want him when they didn't come up off of what they offered him.  the C's then signed Terry and moved on.

Revisionist history about the Cs moving on from Judas. He is trying to portray the Cs as the ones who had moved on, when in actuality, it was he. If he can get people to believe that, that kinda lets him off the hook, huh? That absurdity isn't remotely plausible.

Earlier this week, the Celtics got a commitment from free-agent shooting guard Jason Terry, though the team pitched Allen that they two could play together.

The Cs offer of double the cHeat offer with a no-trade clause as well was still on the table. Diva Ray wanted 9 mil for 3 years, so $27mil with the Cs. One could argue that he wanted that unreasonable amount (how  much was he really worth?/offered by everyone else/) as a tariff for the disrespect that he felt from the Cs. If they say no, he's not the bad guy if he leaves, right?

Wrong!

C'mon, Ray Ray!!! You've already admitted/insinuated your dislike and feeling disrespected by Rondo and Doc and Danny. You left out of spite.

Your choice....accept the disdain and the consequences.

Hes been retired for whatever years, and now he comes out with a book, Rondo said of Allen. People do that in that situation they need money. He should have hit me up and asked me for a loan or something. Its no hard feelings.

Rondo on the subject is pretty incredible  :P

Hilarious.

This is great stuff. Ray is really hurting his own reputation at this point and it is embarrassing to see. Even people that used to support him on this forum for a long time are turning on him now.

Ray carried himself as a consummate professional during his playing days.  The strict diet, practice regimen, etc.  This hang-up is just getting weird.  Someone should tell him to let it go.  At this point, he deserves to be banned from the game threads of life.

I read his interviews, and after all this time, the dude is STILL clueless on why people are mad at him. He "apologizes" for the wrong things, and makes issues with things that people really don't care all that much about. Then he seems to go out of his way to say he hopes one day he'll be accepted back by the Celtics fanbase, but in turn he goes and releases a book (and does interviews) that does just the opposite.

He has issues.

Maybe he's just another former professional athlete that has trouble adjusting to normal life when the lights are turned off.

So when a team doesn't offer you what you believe you are worth when they could have and then end up taking the maximum another team can offer, even when it is less, there really is nothing all that inconsistent in what Ray says.
LOL. For a smart guy, he looks really really dumb in this one. Well, either that, or he really didn't want to be here. Or had no idea what his value was. Or any of the above. Either way, thanks for the championship, good riddance, and don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Also, his "explanation" is nonsense. They weren't negotiating with Pierce when Ray left (he had resigned in 2010 and was in the second-to-last year of his deal), and Garnett had signed for cents on the dollar to stay (took a cut from $21 million to $11.5 million).

Rationalization is... wait, I already said that. Go away, Ray.
Allen asked for less money then he was making and had already taken a 9 million cut once as a Celtic.  Let's not pretend he was asking for a max deal. He wasn't
Mock Deadline - Hornets - Current Roster
PG - Teague, Rubio, MCW, Stone
SG - Monk, Lamb, Muhammad
SF - Wiggins, Sefolosha, Bacon
PF - Kaminsky, Faried, O'Bryant
C - Howard, Bradley

He claimed that he texted KG saying that Danny was not going to pay him.

He took LESS MONEY and went to Miami Heat.

That's all we really need to know about this hack. Hypocrisy at its finest.

Im confused why people (fans) cant separate two distinct decisions made by Ray Allen:

(1) The Celtics didnt offer the amount he deemed respectable and Allen subsequently decided he will not rejoin the team.
(2) Having made the decision to leave the Celtics, he chose the best REMAINING offer.

In his mind the about the money was only in regards to the Celtics offer, not comparatively.
Because the two distinct decisions, when examined jointly and in their entirety, make no sense whatsoever.

Rationalization is one helluva drug, Ray.
Exactly. He dealt with Boston first. They gave him a $6 million a year offer. He wanted much more. So the $6 million offer showed they didn't want him? How? That's what they valued him at.

And then he goes to the open market and his market is $3 million a year. Obviously the Celtics did want him. They offered double the market price. So, I find Ray's rationalization on this to be complete rubbish.

You should watch the interview. He says that his contract was considered last. Whether this is true or not, this is his perception. Once he felt that he wasn't valued like he wanted to be, he decided that he was going to leave BOS.

Once he made that decision, he was going to sign for another team not named BOS, regardless of the money. It was an emotional decision.

He sure couldn't answer that one.

Because he does not really have a team....he will now always be seen as a mercenary. If he had not dissed Boston ....he would have a team. LeBron probably does not respect him enough to welcome him to the Miami fold. Is LeBron even in the Miami fold.  lol.

I know what you mean. We must fight the good fight though rocky. Even if at times we are forced to the shadows
