Isaiah Thomas is out for the final two games of the trip with a sore hip.

I imagine this is what we all thought- the injury would reoccur because the actual hip condition was never addressed properly with surgery. I wonder if the Cavs wanted to get rid of IT partially because they also thought this was going to occur

My prediction for IT this season was:
1.Came back and play poorly-15ppg best poor
2.Reoccurred of injury and miss the playoffs for surgery

didn't saw the Cavs give him up so quick though

Danny should give him a call - see if he will sign for the vet min  ;D

This is exactly what IT didn't want to happen. The possibility of hip surgery lingering before signing that potential Brinks Truck contract.

Danny saw this coming a mile away and handled it perfectly.

Imagine if IT got his way...and the Celtics did give him his fat contract.

Why? Rozier is out performing him.   ;D

Actually, shame on me. That's a bit mean and we shouldn't be that way. IT gave his all while here and deserves our respect.

Nor do I think anyone on the Cs had any idea that IT would be down this long when they traded him to the Cavs, nor did Cleveland know it either. Otherwise they wouldn't have made the deal at all. But the little guy took a beating going to the hoop and it's taken a toll. I'm sorry for him because he deserved better. But I'm also [dang] glad we didn't sign him o a max deal.

Did anyone actually think this wouldn't happen at some point? He should have had his hip surgically repaired this past summer. At least that would have given him a better chance at a full recovery.

Alot of us predicted this could happen or would .   He has been playing very nice and i actually will watch Lakers ...just to watch IT .  He has been playing more full bore burst , and looked close to prime IT at moments.  As I watched him ramping up,his speed and cutting and interior drives , i was worried he might be stressing that hip once again.   He is a solid built little dude and thats a alot of stress on a damaged body part.

I felt like this was going to,be the way it was going to work out for the Celtics, had DA not traded him. Playing great and then losing the hip again at playoff time.

Yes we have lost Irving , but it seems like just for a few weeks .  He ll heal up ...maybe better than ever !  IT may not be able to play and sustain play  at his normal level without the dreaded operation.

I feel for IT. After getting dumped by Boston, fighting back from hip injury just to get dumped by Cleveland, he finally started rebuilding some of his value going into free agency. This is going to cost him.

IT's mouth got him traded out of Cleveland and probably out of Boston as well.  He just doesn't know when to shut up and play.  That said, shame his hip is acting up again.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Pretty harsh.

Is it really?  IT would still be a Cav if he didn't talk so much.  He just can't help himself.  There is a reason every franchise he has been on, the relationship ended poorly and IT talks so negatively about them, and it isn't the 4 former franchises he played for.  I'm sure when LA dumps him, it will be the same thing.  IT quite simply has a bad attitude and he always has.

I think the fact that he wasn't healthy and was playing terrible was the main factor. If he was playing lights out they would have certainly put up with a few comments about bad defense and stuff.
