Games like this makes it clear that we are still a couple of players from real title contention.

Celts need a knock-down Korver-in-his-Prime type perimeter shooter and a defensive/rebounding force inside - plus the two J's keep improving, Kyrie doesn't break bad - and we may be ready to hang a few banners.

Yeah, we could use Hayward, Brown, Kyrie, Smart and Theis. That would make this team a contender.

You know you’ve made it when you are mad losing games even missing half the roster lol

Wish Horford would step it up more when the team needs it.

Same.

And yes everyone, he does a lot of things that don't show up in the boxscore. But every now and then, we need him to show up in the boxscore.

This was one of those times when he needed to seize the moment and step up. No Kyrie, no Jaylen, no Smart, no Theis. He’s the only All Star on our team at the moment. I’m a big fan of Al but I was hoping for more than 6-4-3 from him tonight. I guess he’s really a complementary player that makes everyone better as opposed to being able to step up when needed.

Yeah, kind of hard to be mad when you have as many injuries as the Celtics have right now.

It was good to see Tatum have a strong game, though.  Which should be the most important take away from this game.

I'm still at work so I missed the game but I have a question about Tatum.

It seems like he was kind of on fire, how is it that he only took 14 shots? Was he not taking them or was the team not getting him the ball where he could attack?

I'm not talking about sneaking into the Finals a couple of times, I'm talking about BANNERS.

Brad took him out pretty early in the 3rd, about 5 or 6 minutes in, and never got back into a rhythm.  Tatum finished with only 27 mins played.  As important as rest is, we needed him to play more than that, especially throughout the 3rd.  Besides, he's young and his legs can take it.

He's been dealing with back stiffness, that could've played a role.

Brad has no choice at this point, but Nader is terrible.

Al needs to step his offensive game up. It's so frustrating that on some nights he completely disappears on the offensive end.

Possibly.  If that's the case I'd rather just have Tatum sit out an entire game too since we're already missing so many key players.  Just eat some losses and get healthy in the meantime.

I don't think you'd need to pay nearly 30 million to get that kind of a player.

Horford is what he is. While he elevates everyone around him, he himself is elevated by the players he is with.

He is at his best when he is fully within a great system. He isn't a put the team on his back kind of player. Surrounded by great players, he can score 15-20 while putting up 5+ assists at the center position. Give us his defense, and bam he is worth or close to worth his contract.

Surround him with young or not great talent, and he isn't worth the 30 mil.

It was great to see Tatum step up tonight, but then Brad took him out when the Pelicans made that run that doubled the lead and put us away. Gotta wonder if we could have hung in there if Tatum stayed in the game. Semi and Nader out there together was brutal.
