The Cavs really should consider cutting this guy. He has been awful for a while now and he would be better off the bench. He is definitely hurting that team more than helping them.
He is owed $36M over the next two years (after this season). I can't see the Cavs eating that much salary just because he threw soup at an assistant coach.
There are also some variables in this: how hot was the soup? Did he just freak out in general and some soup hit Jones' legs in the process or was he aiming directly for his face? Is the relationship irreparable? Others have already made the pre-requisite jokes so I will let those be
A one game suspension makes it sound like it wasn't that serious. Our very own Marcus Smart almost just had his season end by going after a picture frame. While I realize the situations were different (Smart wasn't going after anybody), both showed a lack of judgment.
Cleveland should definitely look to rid themselves of Smith, but more because of his contract/level of production than anything else.
