The 4 B's  Rollie Massimino would preach as adversaries to a players success.
The lifestyle of wealth and being in public domain allow little room for mistakes.
I have put dents in doors when i was younger but always those hollow cheap ones,i had my share of altercations while drunk.
As a fan i respected and expected the aggressive defense by Marcus.
This was an unfortunate loss of control  aimed at an inanimate object with its obvious negative effect on our team.
Another lesson learned by the whole squad.
I used to say wisdom was learned from others mistakes and then i had go out and make my own.
The pressure of pro sports ,the adrenaline fueled exploits, the crowds and mass hysteria ,the constant press and travel-and the money all conspire.
Brad used disappointment that is a very powerful rebuke in its simplicity.

Use the term women not the sexist term you used

That was from a historical quote-and a form of alliteration.I suppose you would edit Humphrey Bogart or Red Aurbach. It was to a throwback quote, from a throwback era, from a legend coach with a bit of humor t and never used where i grew up
.Censorship can be taken too far when it edits history, politically correct can be taken too far and
 become a form of repression
.PLEASE don't be offended by this reply it is not mean but confused

From Urban Dictionary  slang for independent, assertive, aggressive woman
comically outdated another

i just googled is it sexist -not in the context it was used or the spirit or intent

Hope you don't take offense to my reply to moderator

Great post rollie.  What was Massimino's beef with books?

People have been punching things out of frustration forever.  Not sure how the team learned a lesson from Smart doing it.

Really. Doesn't seem like a very scholarly thing for a college coach to say.  Especially with the free education and what not.  Maybe he wanted them to focus on scholarly magazines, not books?

Anyhow...definitely a good idea to punch the softer objects.

Massimino was anything but scholarly-he was quick tempered and kicked and threw items at halftime. He was also funny, a real life Danny DiVito  loved his fancy Italian dress shoes, i remember when he kicked a bucket and it was filled with sand with him hopping and howling  and so worried about his shoes..To this day i remember boxing out drills and defense was at least 60% of practice. He had Bobby Knight at one of his camps famous for his temper, also some old Jersey Basketball Coaches that pushed east coast basketball-the glory days of NIT.Very NJ Italian
.Al LaBalbo a legend on defense had mentored Rollie from Hillside NJ
He totally intimidated ref's would prowl the sideline like Van Gundy ,pulling at his thinning hair ,pumping his arms .
Everybody loved Rollie

This is a great thread and I like threads like it. I respect the editing, but I'm glad that the Bs are in the subsequent thread titles. I just like knowing how people spoke in the days before me. What was in their mind. I know it makes some uncomfortable but I like history. Like Huck Finn. That's just me.
