The logic of this rule is arbitrary, inconsistent, and dumb. Literally all of these trades are based on judgment calls that are unlikely to occur in real life given all of the other extraneous factors, e.g. finances, personal preferences, appeasing your players, etc. Hell, you could make good reasons based on individual judgment that virtually all of these trades wouldn’t happen in real life. The NO/LAL trade with Boogie is a prime example of this.

We should’ve just stated no trading NTC players to avoid some arbitrary judgment call by an inherently biased, vested party. Makes no sense to arbitrarily pick and choose which judgment factors we’re going to enforce when the entire game is essentially tied to personal judgment. All that does is waste people’s time...
saltover about 10 pages ago, made a pretty good list on which players would likely be traded and which ones wouldn't.  Lebron James will never waive his NTC.  He has made that abundantly clear time and time again and frankly why would he waive it.  It was a wasted effort to try to trade him.

Might it be best to create a Mock Trade Deadline Announcement & Rumors thread? or possibly create a Post Mock Deadline thread? I feel like we're managing two streams of information here and it may be overwhelming for some folks .... like  possibly myself

The Rockets have had conversations with several teams. They're looking to add a star. Love, Leonard and George have all been discussed. Though it seems distant now, that doesn't mean talks can't accelerate. The piece Houston is most likely to move: Eric Gordon.

Charlotte has reached an agreement with Utah on the following trade:

Charlotte is trading Marvin Williams and Cody Zeller to Utah for Ricky Rubio, Thabo Sefolosha, and Tony Bradley.

http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yb2cuch3

Charlotte makes the move to get under the tax this year, eliminate some long term salary and pick up some much needed defense on its bench with the acquisitions of Rubio and Sefolosha.  Charlotte is also happy to add a recent 1st round draft pick center project for development.  Charlotte has an open roster spot so it doesn't need to waive anyone in the 3 for 2 trade.

The Hornets want to thank Marvin and Cody for their years of service.  They have been nothing but professional and we wish them well with the Jazz.

Charlotte is still looking to make moves to continue to reshape its roster.

The Nets are reportedly looking to help a team get out of the luxury tax with their $6 trade exception from Lin's injury. It needs to be an expiring.

Charlotte and Minnesota have come to terms on a blockbuster trade

Charlotte is trading Nicholas Batum, Kemba Walker, Treveon Graham, 2018 lottery protected 1st (then lottery, top ten, top five, unprotected) for Andrew Wiggins, Jeff Teague, Shabazz Muhammad.

Charlotte is sad to see Kemba, Nicholas, and Treveon go, but is excited to bring in a new franchise player in Andrew Wiggins, who fits the Malik Monk timeline a lot better, as well as a solid veteran PG in Jeff Teague and some additional bench depth in Shabazz Muhammad.  The trade also shaves another 7 million off of this season's payroll.

@rick_bonnell - 0m ago - I'm hearing @Hornets are still very active in the trade market and aren't sold on keeping both Teague and Rubio.  They would like to move at least 1 for a younger PG prospect (or a 1st).  They are also still trying to move MKG and Howard as well, and have received some interest in both.

We can't trade a player we acquired from another team

5. You cannot trade a player you acquired during this mock trade deadline. If you don't want him, you better work a 3-team deal.

Yeah I see that now.  I don't get that rule at all.  And actual teams do that all the time.  Requiring it to be a 3 or 4 team trade allows for trades to fall through you would otherwise do when you could just work a trade out later.  I don't see why I can't trade a player I acquired as long as the real rules are followed, but if those are the weird rules those are the weird rules and I'm stuck with 2 veteran PG's for some strange reason.

@rick_bonnell - 0m ago - Since the @Hornets are stuck with both Teague and Rubio, they have focused all of their efforts on moving Howard and MKG.  Lamb and MCW are also available.
