Is it just me, or am I finding myself disliking him more and more every day?

I just hate how much of a black hole he is on offense... Absolutely no spacing, doesn't cut, and is content with hoisting tough contested mid-range jumpers.

Technically, he's putting up better numbers than he did with the Pistons.

Averaging 11.6 PPG, in 23.7 MPG versus 14.0 PPG in 32.5 MPG, but I have been keeping a look on his defense, and it isn't as good as we all advertised it would be...

The Lebron stopper also seems like a hog wash. Sure, he can force Lebron into tough shots, but I feel like Tatum/Brown can eventually become the Lebron stoppers that we needed.

I'm just not convinced someone like him is in our long-term plans. And I believe due to his bargain contract, could end up as a notable trade option at the deadline.

What are your thoughts?

I feel differently.  I think he's very needed.  I think in the playoffs his value will
become much clearer.  The Celtics need his toughness.  But it's too soon for him to show
all his cards in that department.  In the playoff grind, his offense and toughness will make
him indispensable.

Without Hayward, I consider him to be essential to the team's success.

"dislike" and "hate" are strong words, care to back them up?

Well considering he was out for 22 games and we went on the 16 game winning streak without him. I'm just nitpicking, I wish he moved the ball or swinged it more.

Yeah, I am not crazy about Morris' contributions, but he is exactly what I thought he would be...which is very necessary with so few shot creators on our team. Honestly, if he took like one less bad shot per game and instead turned that into an assist, he would be considerably more efficient - pulling that FG% up closer to 50% and pushing his APG over 2.

He does appear to be a ball-stopper, which isn't good in our offense. I am much happier with the play of Theis who seems to do everything within the framework of the team and is always exerting extra effort.

First time posting so hopefully I get this right  ::)
In some ways, I agree. The ball movement dies when he has the ball in his hands. Off the bench, I don't mind too much, he is the only "consistent" scorer on the team. With Morris though, we least have some form of defense against Lebron, and you can see how much that helps (Iggy vs Bron 2015 Finals). But with the depth of defense in this team, he's a redundant player and I would be fine with him being traded for a quality scorer off the bench.

TP for first post. I agree. My issue isn't that he's inconsistent, just lazy and seems to take shots instead of driving and trying to get free throws.

He is lazy, He also has pushed a few players that were not called for. He is not an enforcer he thinks he is. I hope he is included in a deal for Favors if we know Hayward will try to play in playoffs.

I was always down on his fit with the starters and I think that has shown.  To me, I would much rather just about always start Baynes, who is about second in the NBA in Def Rtg.   I think Morris has some value but it's off the bench, where you want him taking his type of shots.

With the starters right now he is redundant, and to me that's mostly because he can't shoot 3's really that well, which is what I was telling everyone coming in.  Tatum has been better than I thought but he doesn't really shoot enough.   I know some people think this team takes too many threes, but to me it's that it doesn't have good enough and consistent enough shooters.

It's not that he can't play at all.  It's fit.  I also am feeling that way about Rozier now.  I know Hayward could fix a ton of this but in the mean time we have good defenders with redundant skill sets.  Not enough knock down shooting or passing.   Morris and Rozier are specialist players and it's not working with them right now.  Neither one can knock down a 3 consistently off the catch or create plays for anyone else.

Keys to your post "Brown and Tatum eventually become Lebron stoppers". First off no one in the NBA or who has ever been in the NBA could be a "Lebron Stopper" but I understand your point Morris plays better D then 75% of the league on Lebron. To your point Tatum, Brown and I would add Semi should all develop into players capable of playing above average D on Lebron. That is not happening this year.

We have been given some hind site into the trade that send out AB and brought in Morris. The Lakers where in discussions to trade for AB they offered Randle and DA reportedly wanted Nance. This and the subsequent trade for Morris shows us that DA valued bringing in a bigger 3/4 wing on a reasonable contract for at least 2 years.

I ultimately see Morris as a space holder this season and a trade chip in the off season/next years trade deadline. He will be used to fill what ever roster voids develop.

An examples would be if Smart is lost to RFA then Morris is moved for a 2/1 type bench facilitator. If the draft and or DPE doesn't get us a Baynes replacement then Morris could be traded for a true center. However it plays out I do not suspect to see Morris resigned in Boston.

Oh yeah I agree. My point is that in the future they will eventually become said stoppers or just above average defenders.

I wasn't too high on him in the beginning. To feel disappointed you generally depend on what did you expect in the 1st place.
I had moderate expectations. I knew he was a fine NBA player, I thought he is very durable (then he had multiple injuries), feisty and proud. Has solid stroke and likes the mid-range.

With Hayward gone we needed him even more as a scorer, and he is doing that. He is not much of a passer I agree. The one thing I am lower on him is that he really isn't a small ball 4. He can off-course play the position (log minutes there), but defensively, rebounding and shot contesting wise he is too small, more precisely short and isn't wired for those needs.

I have never liked his fit on the team while watching him. He’s going to get his no matter what but in the meantime play lazy defense along with it. He’s definitely not in the long term plans but will be really needed come April. His game translates better in those circumstances.
