Seems like we've had a ton of discussion for each of the past several years heading into the trade deadline. This year, though, with the deadline only four weeks away, it sounds like the board isn't expecting much. Maybe a minor trade for a bench player, but otherwise, is this trade deadline going to come and go with barely a whimper?

I hope so! This team is fun to watch and it seems from the outside that they get along pretty well.

I'd rather an expected boring trade deadline as opposed to the usual the media sayin "Boston is interested in All-Stars X, Y, Z"

Just to end up with a scrub on an expiring deal.

They might be better off waiting for the buyout market if teams are asking for a lot for rentals.
2019 historical draft.  Pick 12

Tim Duncan, Oscar Robertson, Elgin Baylor, Scottie Pippen, Willis Reed, Mitch Richmond, Sam Jones, Dan Majerle, Bob Cousy, Rasheed Wallace, Shawn Kemp, Marcus Camby

Boring is good. It means you have arrived...you are set.

I think there will be a small out of no wheres move for a bundle of our youngs, or for the 8 mill we got sitting there. Teams out of the playoffs will be wanting to move contracts, or get some younger talent heading into the draft.

Never count Ainge out at the trade deadline.

Exactly.

We still have a lot of pieces, including future draft picks, that could squeeze into someone else's bigger deal.

Or he could go for broke and package up Morris, Smart, Yabu and some picks or something nuts.

Or nothing.

And I wouldn't take bets in any direction, but nothing is perhaps most likely.

Not sure how active other GM's will be. If I'm the GM for  LA, PHO, ORL, CHI, MEM, BKN, or even Utah, I want at least late first round picks for decent role players.

I'd like to see the Celtics add a sharpshooter and another big man for this playoff run. I'm sure Danny isn't going to offer much in the rental market, but a couple of their future 1st round picks will be useful for a player on a 2-3 year deal.

They have a much better chance vs Cleveland than I previously thought. I think they should look to improve for a playoff run.

We are already a top team, and obviously a buyer.

It all depends on who is selling and how much they want. Bostons trade assets are amongst the best in the NBA. Our outgoing salary to bring in a superstar would require parting ways with Horford, and unless the name is AD and it's for Horford, Smart and picks, I don't see Ainge biting.

For me, most trade deadlines from recent years were boring. The IT trade three seasons ago was only okay at the time, since we had no idea he'd be that good. The year before that and the two years since were quiet. I'm not expecting anything significant.

Don't worry...most smart GMs have already blocked Danny'Sullivan number.

I could see C's doing nothing even in regards to the DPE. The team has a full roster and despite how they are doing record wise it's still a developing team that's more youth loaded. I'd like them to make a decision on Smart/Rozier but I don't think DA will mess with the current chemistry and will just see what happens in the off season.
