After watching Lou Will drop 50 last night on the Warriors, I can’t help but wish we had that type of offense off the bench, especially come playoff time. I can’t imagine the Clippers are going to keep his expiring deal as they probably won’t make the playoffs, and he can’t really cost that much. So my question is really two-fold: Should we go after him? And what will it take to get him?

remember when the Celtics traded for Tony Delk...
but yea if the price is right could use a scorer off the bench even though i prefer a rebounder/shot blocker...

The Clippers absolutely could make the playoffs this year.  Even with all their injuries they are 1 game out of the playoffs right now.  That doesn't mean they won't trade Williams, but if they are still pretty close at the deadline I think it is far less likely and in any event would probably require a 1st round pick or some real value (i.e. they aren't just going to give him away).
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Are we going to re-sign him?  If not, I wouldn’t want to get rid of any asset outside of a #2.

Same, but I'd love for this to happen.  He's one of the few binkies I still have left in the league.

Smart + Lou off the bench would be ridiculous.

Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa

I think the Cs stay away from Lou. Everything of value that I have read says that the Cs are not giving up anything for a 1 year rental. Adding Lou would also take min from Rozier and I do not think this is part of the teams plan.

I suspect Lou will get traded to one of the teams in the lower eastern conference playoff standing. Maybe Indy, NY or detriot

Realistically, what would we have to give up to get a Lou Williams or Tyreke Evans.

Unfortunately, we don't have any 2nd rounders I believe for the next two drafts, and they DEFINITELY won't give up a core player/bench player to acquire either (like Smart or Rozier, etc.)

Maybe the 2018 Boston First, but that's probably not going to be offered either for a rental.

Ya its hard to figure out the value. He was traded last year to the rockets for what was a late first. But that deal also included the Lakers having to take on an Corey Brewers contract and that was when he had an extra year of team control. So hard to see how he gets a first round pick. Plus Smart/Rozier have been better lately.
