Weird, I heard IT was going to be a shell of his former self.

So you think is up to norm with the every other night minute restriction.   That alone indicates there is still some chance of reinjury and the Cavs are being cautious.

I want IT to do well except when playing us.

Is it just me or does anyone else think that Roy H. has been more snarky/divisive since Donald Trump got elected   ;)

I am sure that I was not the only one that expected IT to play great for the Cavs and make big shots for them in big games.  IT not only has the "it" factor, he is named after it.  The problem for the Cavs though is that IT is going to end up being a half year rental.  Someone is going to over pay IT and IT might surprise everyone again and play up to the contract.  I am happy though that it is not the Celtics who are going to over pay for IT and I don't see how the Cavs can pay him.  Maybe if LeBron leaves and they rebuild around Love and IT?

If IT is healthy, even a full max is market value based upon past off-seasons and lesser players getting paid the max.  Now, there could be a contracted market due to fewer teams having space.

It all comes down to Lebron. If he stays, I think IT does, too. If he leaves, I’ve got no idea where IT ends up, although Gilbert may want to stay in playoff contention.

I think the best IT does is what Lowry got from Toronto.  3 years, 100 million seems like the best case, of course unless it is the Cavs that is offering that, I have no idea what team would have the space, need, and fit.  That has always been the problem for IT.  There just aren't going to be that many teams that even need a PG, let alone have the cap space, and would be interested in a win now PG.  His market is going to be very limited for all of those reasons.

I know one game with IT is a very small sample size but I have a feeling that he's going to get his Brinks or close to it.

If he doesn't get it with CLE then he'll get it somewhere else.

Too early and no max

20 million x 4 is my prediction

Oh my I hope he doesn't read CelticsBlog....

He'll surely use some of this stuff as bulletin board material...

I can't see anyone paying him less than 25 mil per..

Look I'm an IT fanboy so I'm a bit biased. But I don't see anyone paying him less than 25 mil..
who are these mysterious teams that are going to pay Thomas a bunch of money?

One of the easiest questions ever posed to me on CelticsBlog.

Answer - Teams that want to WIN.

Teams that want a high-character, gritty, chip on his shoulder type of player.

Teams that want a PROVEN leader - in the locker room and on the court.

Teams that want a me-against-the-world type of player.

Teams that want a 2nd-team All-NBA player and 2x All-Star.

Teams that want a player that ELEVATES his game in the Post-Season - even though he was the primary offensive option.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=39gFgeisYlA

Teams that want to build a CHAMPION - ready to win right now.

Teams that WANT their leader to play through broken teeth, family passing away and giving his heart and soul to the team and the city - playing through tears.

Give ME an NBA team I'd sign him ASAP.

I can’t help but notice that you didn’t mention any teams in particular that fall into this category.  ;)

I hope IT gets big money and security, but I see it more happening on some team like the Lakers as a backup plan when their Lebron/George pipe dream falls through.

Of course he didn't answer the question, because he can't.  Those teams just don't exist.  outside of Cleveland, there are a couple of teams that reasonably make sense for Thomas the player, but as of now those teams don't have anywhere near the cap space to actually sign him (Milwaukee for example seems like a reasonable landing spot if they believe Thomas and Giannis can work, but Milwaukee would have to make a lot of moves to clear the salary to sign Thomas, and I'm not sure it is worth it for Milwaukee to do that).

Moranis quoted my post about IT and I was responding to "HIM".

In the Real World if you cut someone off (especially being an anti-IT poster like wayupnorth is) then you are looked at annoyingly.

Once Moranis responds to ME with my response to HIM then I'll trust that - not someone with an axe to grind about posters who still love IT.

Ok I'll put away the IT Fanboyism for a minute and answer your question.

After reading through some responses here I'd have to agree with those who mentioned CLE as where IT signs and remains.

This is also depending on what happens with LeBron staying or going.

I also wouldn't put it past a few other teams to sign him. The NBA can be too fluid at times with changing rosters and opportunities for someone like IT can open up rather quickly.

I believe IT will get a Brinks or something close to it and it will be on a competitive team.

Can Cavs sign IT and Lebron on max or 20+ mill?
