On Favors I say .....

YES, do that deal
No, I'd wait on something better.

So I read that if you use DPE for a player you can tade that player within a three way deal so you can take on more salary and not have to wait 60 days. I didn't check if they could also get a player under longer contract though. So I looked at teams that are likely out of the playoffs and could save $.

C's trade DPE for Carter saving Kings $7 million.
C's then trade Carter to Jazz for Favors saving Jazz $4 million.

Again these teams are out of it and players are all expiring so it's saving them money is why they do the deals.

Two questions.
1. Is this possible with cap and trade rules?
2. Would adding Favors in this way be a great use of the DPE?

We just signed Gordon Hayward what makes you think Utah would help us after that?

Perhaps folks think it is a bad trade  or like me an unrealistic one at best?

Wait so you are telling me a team/s that are out of it wouldnt want to save $? And here I thought the NBA was a business.
What do you think expiring deals of modest talent is going to fetch? I can tell you it's not a 1st rounder anymore. Getting salary relief seems like a real thing in recent trades.

That's two separate trades, neither of which seems realistically plausible.

Money. This is a business.

Anyway, I don't see it as a realistic proposal at this point. Also, Utah should get a second round for Favors.
