I would be surprised if he didn't sell his "old" home.  He has no need for 2 large house both in Brentwood.  When you have his kind of money you can buy your new home before you sell your old home.  You then move the stuff at your leisure and sell the old home when you are fully moved into the new one.
true. He has the luxury to wait for real estate prices to move up
If he bought a condo downtown by the arena, that would be something, but this is a non-story given the type and location of the home.

Or it shows he still has his mind on LA. Would be tough break for Cleveland there... I wonder how much more money he makes in endorsements in LA compared to Cleveland..
Probably not much since he has national endorsements and thus won't take the local endorsements where the size of the city actually matters.
exactly he doesn't care about endorsements. lebron is bigger than the Lakers, so the "market size" means nothing when more people in Bosnia  know lebron than Lakers.

I'm not really sure this is true. He would definitely also have local endorsements to add to his portfolio at a minimum and would think that would be a pretty substantial chunk of change. Also wasn't the presentation to Aldridge a few summers ago focused on how much more money he could make in LA with endorsemetns (which Aldridge hated cause he wanted to hear the basketball plans). Acting like there isn't a significant difference in potential earnings strikes me a bit like Cleveland fans going:

Lamarcus Aldridge is not Lebron James.

Lebron endorses Nike (lifetime contract), Kia, Coca-Cola (Sprite), Beats by Dre, McDonald's, Samsung, Intel, Verizon, and similar type international brands.  It doesn't matter where he is.  James is not endorsing Bob's local car dealership and things like that.

His ownership in blaze Pizza will likely net him 10 figures someday, as will his lifetime Nike deal. So we're at $2 billion and we haven't even gotten into the coca cola endorsement and his plethora of other deals. highly doubt that LA market endorsement can significantly change the international brand appeal and presence of lebron. He is famous worldwide from the middle of nowhere Cleveland

You guys are fun. Lets all pretend there is no difference between Cleveland and LA. LA isn't one of the most desirable cities in the country for a rich person to live in with opportunities to constantly rub elbows with millionaires and billionaires. How much easier is it for him to appear in movies (which he gets paid for). This isn't bob's local car dealership we are talking about (and a random point to think I was trying to make moranis)

Lebron talks about wanting to own a team so he is going to stop worrying about money cause he has some billion dollar deals. Get serious with that. You think Lebron can't have an easier time getting millionaires to invest in products and programs he is involved in? Sure he can do it anywhere, but he can do it a lot easier face to face.

 Then there is Cleveland.

He can only appear in movies in the summer when he lives in LA anyway.  Same with all this business work you want him to do.  He does very little during the season and lets his team handle the vast majority of the production company work.

That is frankly ridiculous. You don't think Lebron can go to a gala fundraiser in LA on any number of off days during the season to meet with potential investors? A business dinner? Do you think he goes into a cryogenic freezer when he is not on the court? I am now generally fascinated what you think his life is like...

Also just took my first ever look at his instagram that is filled with pictures of his wine and fancy restaurants. Definitely nothing like that he would enjoy in LA.

Live look at someone trying to argue LA doesn't have more business opportunities for a billionaire than Cleveland:

forget him playing for the Lakers for a second. Why does someone need 2 large homes in the same area, by the way an area they live in a couple months out of the year?

I get that he has an insane amount of money but help me with the mindset. These trophies to himself? Is he bored with his money? Is this Warren Buffet advice to him to become a billionaire he so desires.

I'm not rich so I'm not one to judge how those who build wealth do it. I'm hoping someone here is wealthy and this makes sense to them and they can be like hey Chilly this is how you do it.

I hate to break it to you, but nobody on Celticsblog is wealthy enough to relate with LBJ. The guy has hundreds of millions of dollars. Him buying multiple homes in LA is like me buying two packs of gum instead of one when I'm at the drug store. It's a drop in a bucket.

I'm not saying on his wealth level but help me understand why another house in same neighborhood. But I get it now it's an upgrade from summer home to fulltime living. He has luxury to sit on the other one until he gets the number he wants.

I'll enjoy Lebron and Lavar sharing barbs through a season.
ok fine

Yeah, even if LA didn't have way more endorsements and better appearances, in what universe does it not have better networking opportunities for a millionaire than Cleveland?

To say LeBron doesn't care about business is just so random and hilarious.  Especially when Moranis goes on to talk about "letting his team handle it."  ....It's not even his hassle.  As if he doesn't have business advisers, assistants, and everything taken care of for him?  Of course LeBron's not using all his spare time doing business and looking for opportunities to make more money, he's paying people to do that for him.

The end of his career is right around the corner.  You seriously think this guy has been so focused on basketball that he's never even thought about what he could after he's retired and in the prime of his life with ALL that money.

David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels

I hate to break it to you, but nobody on Celticsblog is wealthy enough to relate with LBJ. The guy has hundreds of millions of dollars. Him buying multiple homes in LA is like me buying two packs of gum instead of one when I'm at the drug store. It's a drop in a bucket.

I'm not saying on his wealth level but help me understand why another house in same neighborhood. But I get it now it's an upgrade from summer home to fulltime living. He has luxury to sit on the other one until he gets the number he wants.

I'll enjoy Lebron and Lavar sharing barbs through a season.
he didn't own a summer home in brentwood. He owned a home he paid 21 million for in 2015.  The one he bought this week he paid 23 million but it is brand new and has a better location.  He is going to sell the other one at some point in time.  That is why this a non-story.

Acting like there isn't a significant difference in potential earnings strikes me a bit like Cleveland fans going:

alridge is not on the same level as lebron. Lebron has more facebook likes and bigger social media presence than the Lakers. He's bigger than the Lakers.

Tp for this.
