I believe that all sports are “a game of inches,” off the field/court as well as on. What if the Blazers had drafted Durant instead of Oden? What if Jordan hadn't fallen to the Bulls? What if Rochester hadn't passed on Bill Russell? What if someone besides Billy King had been Nets GM?

These are fun thought exercises that make for interesting debates, but hindsight, of course, is 20-20. And there's always some amount of luck involved, whether good or bad.

But, to borrow from Bill Belichick, everything is what it is. And to quote the great Gandalf, “All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.” People make what they think are the best decisions, and then go from there, hopefully learning from whatever mistakes they make (mistakes will be made by all).
"There are two kinds of people: those who say to God, 'Thy will be done,' and those to whom God says, 'All right, then, have it your way.'"
