I mean, seriously, can anyone give me a rationale for why they didn't even check the time? That is standard for them to do, and they look at everything anymore. There's a big difference between 0.4 and 0.8.

Maybe this was already mentioned but WHY oh WHY does both Baynes & Horford get a pass at the RIM and subsequently kick it out to the 3 point line? How about a dunk or a layup for 2? We in neither case needed a 3 at the time. I just don't get it and don't get why Horford decided he didn't want to shoot last night.

This was a problem in the game.  I really thought it was maybe the worst game I have seen from Horford I can remember here.  The zone really threw him off his game.  The team has overpassed at times but it really didn't seem like Al could get involved like he usually is in the game.  It seemed like he didn't shoot because he maybe didn't know where the defense was.  Kind of annoying to see a zone trip them up, but the Mavs seemed to be tricky with how they ran it to make it work.

It was an ugly game, but it happens.  Dallas was smart in their half-court approach late to iso Barnes (Dirk?) on Kyrie.  But I thought Kyrie's ability to push the pace and create transition opportunities that really weren't even there made all the difference.  Sometimes that gets him into trouble, but it worked out well in this one.

It was weird seeing Horford against Barea and the latter getting the better game.

Oh yes. Hard to believe it would ever happen, but Dr. J is under appreciated and underrated these days. Maybe not spending all his time post-playing days engaging in self promotion, and instead actually being a legit business dude, might have something to do with it. Time in the ABA didn't help.

I think its a pretty poor comparison. Dr. J during his youth in the ABA was an athletic freak who could soar through the air and overwhelm people defending him. He always had an amazing handle. And he wasn't an outside threat. As he grew older and less athletic he became smoother and more well rounded.

So you're saying Tatum could be compared to an older Erving?

It is clear you never saw much Drexler because Tatum has a better shot and less glide.

Drexler?
Dr J?

I wonder if some of you have ever seen these guys play because those comparisons are head-scratching. Dr J is the guy before Jordan who could jump from the FT line and dunk the ball. Clyde was an unbelievable athlete who had over a .509 eFG only once in his career.

I could see Harrison Barnes as a comp. Gordon Hayward. Even a better-shooting Rudy Gay/Carmelo Anthony. Paul Pierce is who I've been comparing him to for a while now. Heck, you might go back to a guy like Kiki Vandeweghe. But ultimately he's Jayson Tatum and he's going to be his own man.
Jaylen Brown will be an All Star in the next 5 years.

This is probably the best way to sum it up. I'm as guilty as anyone with comparing players to previous guys, but ultimately we shouldn't be looking for the next so and so, but rather just embracing the unique guy that JT is.
