Smart shoots the Mavs back into the game, then makes a steal in the 4th, and his fan club will gush about how clutch he is.

Maybe if the peanut gallery didn't constantly harp on every little bad thing he does and showed a little perspective by actually being objective, then his "fan club" wouldn't have to so vehemently defend his status as a legit contributor to this team...

Every little bad thing???? He's 1 for 7, 0 for 5, with 3 turnovers. He's the Mavs 1st half mvp.

Smart does some great things, but his offense is just atrocious sometimes. I mean, he's shooting 27% from the field. Twenty. Seven. Percent. From a guard.

See, this is one of those games where I'm not surprised that Brad is going to the very end of the bench. Because Dallas is just that bad. We've seen how bad in the first quarter, so why not give guys like Abdel Nader minutes? Exxperiment with lineups against a team that has no interest in winning this season can't hurt that much.

I'm pretty confident the Celtics are going to win this game. I just might develop a brain aneurysm before they do.

Irving wants 50 wow.

Might need 60 to win this one with the brick squad off the bench
I don't even get the bench's mind-set on offense. What happened to the pick and pops with Baynes or the Theis alley-oops? Rozier never, ever passes anyway, but Marcus has gotta chill with some of those threes. And if Tatum is in the game with the bench, he should be the first option and Brad should tell those guys that.

we need a bench where everyone CAN contribute IF ASKED TO. we have tons of work to do to get to that point. i was very happy with how deep we looked early on but now it is tapering off with certain players.

I watched Nader plenty in college. I still don't know how he made a NBA roster much less this one. That's all I'll say about that.

Ok, I will take the sword for Nader.  I watched pretty much every game his last two years at ISU.  He is a good player, he isn't a ball hog like his critics say he is here.  He is a streaky shooter, but sometimes he can be unstoppable.  He has a knack for getting to the rim and in certain instances might be a spark off the bench for us.

A problem with a lot of bench guys though is that when they go through 8-10 games of DNP's they get out of sync like anyone would.  It is not like there has been multiple days of practice for everyone.  He needs minutes just like every young player to get better.

I am not going to lie and say nothing is his fault, but he hasn't slept with anyone's mom, he didn't rape someone, he didn't shoot someone.  He may not be anyone's fav player, but we can at least root for him.  he didn't go 1-7 shooting 0-5 from 3 in the first half.

Horford too passive. Try to lay that up and they'd probably call a foul.

Every little bad thing???? He's 1 for 7, 0 for 5, with 3 turnovers. He's the Mavs 1st half mvp.

I'm not excusing how bad he's been the last several games. He's been straight up terrible.

But, yes, every little bad thing. The dude has become so polarized that every single time he does something bad there are multiple comments calling him out about it, and similarly when he does something good there are multiple comments in response to try and balance out the rampant criticism. It's ridiculous.

It's mainly certain vocal posters that have personal vendettas against Smart that drive this polarization, but the primary reason his "fan club" has to talk him up after his usual late game heroics is mainly due to the vitriol and rampant criticism that he receives from the anti-Smart crowd the rest of the time.

Those posters would be much more reserved in their praise of Smart if they weren't constantly bombarded with anti-Smart propaganda in here.
