And who do you think they will be?

Kyrie: 20/3/5.  putting up nice numbers.

Horford: averaging 15/9/4 so far. Very nice numbers around his career highs. He belongs .

Brown: 15/6/1. Decent numbers. Are they enough? And are sophomores even allowed or they go in the rookie game still?

Tatum: 13/5/1 are rookies even allowed in the all star game? Regardless he will be there in the rookie game

On October 3, 2017, the NBA announced that the format would change from the traditional Eastern Conference versus Western Conference format, and would instead switch to a draft-style format. The team captains will be determined by the most votes received in their respective conference. Each team will pick a charity to play for, and the winning team will have money donated to their charity

I think Horford's playing like an all-star but won't get picked, and that Irving (strange as this sounds) is likely to be the only representative of the best team in the East.

I think Kyrie and Horford will make it. I think its pretty obvious Al has rejuvenated his game, is rebounding better than he has in years, is the best passing big man in the league and is playing Defensive Player of the Year quality defense. There's just not a lot of all-star quality bigs in the east.

It should be Horford then Irving, and that's probably it. Brown and Tatum look great, but I don't think they're on track for an All-Star game just yet.

Horford is off the charts right now. He's shooting 64% from 2PT, 44% from 3PT and 84% FT. He's top-20 in rebounds & top-40 in assists. Offensive rating of 120 and defensive of 97. All of that with 15/9/4 which not many can match in counting stats.

Irving has been very good, too, but if he's still seen as offense-only he could potentially draw a snub with his current averages.

I agree Kyrie and Al will make it.   Tatum, I think will be in the rookie game or the equivalent.   It will be hard to justify Brown making it with DeRozan being a given at SG, perhaps Beal?

They're keeping the same format. The team with the best record in the East, that staff coaches the game. Brad and his staff cannot coach this year though because they coached last year. As of right now it would be Stan Van Gundy coaching the Eastern All Stars. Who would've thought!

  • Yup
If Brown keeps playing anything close to how he has the last couple and the Celts keep winning at a 60+ win pace he'll deserve to be there as much as anyone.  Ill say 3 in hopes of watching that continue to develop.

I'll 2nd this. If the Cs are still obliterating the East, there will really be no justification for not giving them 3 All-Stars. Brown will probably need to get that average up closer to 18 PPG to be a 'guarantee', but I don't see how you can give the Hawks 4 All-Stars a few years ago with the Cs only getting 1-2 this year. Record does matter.

But, again, while the Cs don't need to continue to win every game for this to happen, they do need to have a comfortable lead at #1 (not like last year).

I think it is just Irving.  Though wouldn't be totally surprised to see Horford or Brown make it.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

I think if Brown was a more consistent FT shooter (over 70% at least) he would be a shoo in.

I also believe his play is going to get better as the year goes on so I vote 3 with the belief he can get in with a few more big games on national games.

He can't coach again after coaching last year, right?   (no back to back coaches)
